Senior DevOps Engineer
Position Description
Primary responsibility is to own the day to day management of our AWS infrastructure and services
Assist the Cloud Architect in the effort to build and integrate new CI/CD, big data, and security technologies into our process and solution architecture by contributing to new technology research, proof of concepts, and eventual take over to integrate into production
Participate at the most senior level in the production support and maintenance of development, deployment, and security technologies including Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise, Kerberos, Terraform, Vault etc.
Partner with Data Operations team to support the data pipeline and platform. This includes infrastructure ownership and assist in support of underlying systems including Hive, Hue, JupyterHub/EMR Notebooks, SQL servers, Airflow, Apache Kafka/MSK, s3 volume management, and Tableau
Participate in the design and testing of disaster recovery processes in accordance with business continuity strategies.
Configure and utilize monitoring systems, in particular Datadog and Cloud Watch
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, processes, and data flows
Be a technical resource to more junior team members, with a future path to a Technical Lead
Ensure the security, confidentiality, availability, and integrity of client information for yourself and team within a HITRUST compliant environment
Duties related to information security will be segregated across team members to ensure cross checking / monitoring / work overlap and work coverage
Examples of security related tasks are secrets management, patching, HITRUST reviews and remediation
Role requires a high level of system access – confidentiality and security
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or similar curriculum
B.S in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
3 to 5 years of DevOps or software development experience in a professional environment
Experience working within a primarily AWS environment required, certification preferred
Kubernetes configuration and administration experience required
Infrastructure automation tooling experience, preferably Terraform
Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD tooling configuration and administration experience preferred
Experience administering distributed big data tools, i.e. Hive, Hue, Apache Spark, Airflow, JupyterHub/EMR Notebooks
Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database software
Intermediate to advanced experience programming in Python
Proficient in shell scripting, plus know when to stop scripting and start developing
Experience in a mixed Microsoft and Linux environment
