THE OPPORTUNITY:
*Open to remote candidates that reside in the United States and Canada*
The Staff Java Developer helps bring our product concepts and designs to life. This individual will collaborate as a leader with multidisciplinary teams, engaging with product managers, UX and UI designers, software engineers, and QA analysts to deliver features and products that help our customers do their jobs better. The candidate should be well-versed in software technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, JPA, and event driven systems. A keen eye for detail, creative thinking, exceptional problem-solving, and excellent communication skills are essential when working with our product team and fellow software engineers to bring product requirements to life.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a leader by example to the Software Development Team
  • Assist with coaching employees on the Software Development Team
  • Maintain software development processes
  • Maintaining high level of product quality
  • Follow overall architectural principles, frameworks, and standards
  • Help design solutions that are enterprise scalable and maintainable
  • Provide input into long-range product requirements, best practices, and operational guidelines, with focus on continuous improvement of platform reliability and serviceability
  • Ensure that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence
  • What success looks like:
    • SaaS software platforms are developed as scalable, high performing and maintainable solutions using best practices and current technologies
    • Scalability methodologies are well understood and implemented in a consistent and robust manner
    • You play a key part in your scrum teams' successes


Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have 7+ years of experience developing scalable, high performing, and maintainable enterprise solutions,
    playing a key part in your scrum teams' successes.
  • You have been in a lead position on an Agile team for over 1 year, responsible for code reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.
  • You have a strong understanding of clean code concepts and are proficient in test-driven development (TDD).
  • You effectively bring product requirements to life through excellent communication skills with product teams and fellow engineers.
  • You understand customer needs and possess strong business acumen. You create realistic timelines for projects and balance competing priorities.
  • You foster an environment for honest and open discussion of all issues. You involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues.
  • You work with cross-functional teams including business analysts, UI/UX designers, software developers, and QA analysts.
  • Your technical skills include advanced working experience with:
    • -Java (8+) and Spring Boot
    • -Relational databases
    • -Cloud architecture (preferably AWS)
    • -API design and development (preferably GraphQL)
    • -Containers (preferably Docker),
    • -Java unit testing frameworks (preferably JUnit)
    • -CI/CD


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a SaaS organization
  • Understanding of software architecture and being able to guide team members in best practices and approaches
  • Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL
  • Experience with non-relational databases
  • Experience with modern JavaScript (React, Angular)
  • Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
