As a Web Developer, you’ll have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects spanning our diverse set of businesses and geographies. You’ll need broad experience in website design and development, a metrics-mindset, and a desire to help build new businesses and strategies. You’ll be crafting beautiful, functional, and intuitive web-based applications in close collaboration with other team members to meet business objectives. Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, an ability to move quickly between tasks, an appreciation for continuous delivery, and active knowledge sharing are also all very important for success in this role. 

What you’ll do:

  • Work with internal partners and outside vendors to develop responsive web-based applications, CMS templates, external and internal facing pages and sites, and internal-facing pages, sites and tools
  • Work on large scale projects for internal and external web-based applications
  • Configure and take ownership for rollout of new deployments
  • Act as front-line support for day-to-day user issues across all web properties
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance of existing web-based applications, including production issues, software updates and bug fixes
  • Optimize web applications for user experience and search engine results
  • Update web applications according to changing SEO best practices and search algorithms
  • Follow emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to projects and activities
  • Train and serve as resource for colleagues using CMS to create content
  • Verify the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and ensure it works across modern mobile and desktop browsers
  • Monitor and report on performance, traffic and search engine results for all web properties

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of web development experience
  • Fluency with JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3, Web User Interface Design (UI), Security Principles, Object-Oriented Design, and Web Services (REST/SOAP)
  • Experience with WordPress, Craft or similar CMS
  • Experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+) and latest front-end frameworks
  • Good understanding of SEO principles and experience applying them to applications
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics & tracking software
  • Experience with front-end build tools (i.e. Webpack)
  • Experience with linux tools and common distributions
  • Fluency in git
  • Solid understanding of browser and device compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Good understanding of design, layout and usability best practices
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and other design tools 
  • Strong communication skills
  • Aptitude for complex problem analysis and resolution
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to write good unit, functional and integration tests

Bonus Points for:

  • UI/UX design experience
  • Experience working with Python or other backend languages
  • Experience working with static website generators
