PingWind is seeking an Engineering Lead to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a fully remote position responsible for providing technical leadership and architectural guidance to our team.

• Containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, Infra Engineering (policies, code), experience with tools like data dog or dynatrace, AWS Experts, Backstage.io, EKS, Istio, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Clustering, High availability Maintenance, Disaster recovery
Responsibilities
• Technical Leadership
o Architectural Oversight: Guide the design and architecture of APIs, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
o Best Practices: Establish and enforce coding standards, API design guidelines, and DevOps best practices.
o Technical Decision-Making: Make informed decisions on tools, frameworks, and technologies for both development and operations.
• Team Management
o Mentorship: Coach and mentor API developers and DevOps engineers, supporting their professional growth.
o Resource Allocation: Assign tasks based on team members’ strengths and project priorities.
o Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaboration and Communication
o Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the main point of contact between the API/DevOps team and other stakeholders (e.g., Product Managers, QA, Security).
o Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of APIs, deployment processes, and operational runbooks.
o Status Reporting: Communicate progress, risks, and issues to leadership and stakeholders.
• Project Delivery
o Sprint Planning: Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
o Quality Assurance: Oversee code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines to maintain high-quality deliverables.
o Incident Management: Guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• DevOps Enablement
o CI/CD Ownership: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
o Infrastructure as Code: Ensure infrastructure is managed using code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
o Monitoring & Reliability: Champion monitoring, alerting, and reliability engineering practices.
• Security and Compliance
o API Security: Ensure APIs are secure (authentication, authorization, data validation).
o DevOps Security: Promote secure DevOps practices (secrets management, vulnerability scanning).
o Compliance: Ensure processes adhere to relevant regulatory and organizational standards
• Continuous Improvement
o Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements.
o Tool Evaluation: Continuously assess and adopt new tools and technologies to improve productivity and quality.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or technical discipline
• 5 years relevant experience.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Expert communication and client management skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Flexible, able to adapt to different customer groups and expectations
• Experience working in and with cross-functional teams
