ActiveCampaign is seeking an Engineering Manager - Data Infrastructure & Platform to lead and grow our data infrastructure. You won't just be managing a team; you'll be a pivotal, hands-on leader responsible for the entire lifecycle of all company data. You will partner directly with leadership to architect a highly available, performant, and scalable data infrastructure that powers our entire business.

This isn't just about keeping the lights on; it's about shaping the future of our data capabilities. You will foster a culture of operational excellence, security, and velocity, guiding your team to achieve our strategic vision and seeing your contributions directly impact our company's trajectory and product innovation.

On a typical day, you might:

  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary group of talented engineers, focusing on the development and operation of core database, data pipeline, and platform services.
  • Contribute to and execute on the organization’s long-term technical vision for data storage, processing, and retrieval, ensuring security, quality, and clean architecture principles.
  • Drive operational efficiency across all managed systems, including defining and achieving service level objectives (SLOs) for mission-critical databases and data platforms.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and other Engineering teams to enable new product features and analytical capabilities by optimizing and scaling our data infrastructure.
  • Maintain rigor in system reliability, focusing on automated testing, observability, disaster recovery, and continuous performance improvements for relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Facilitate the professional growth of team members in technical depth, effective cross-functional collaboration, and sound decision-making.
  • Partner with other managers to define and execute the overall platform strategy, leveraging public cloud resources and modern CI/CD practices.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience, including successfully leading teams responsible for 24/7 production systems.
  • Proven experience building, deploying, and scaling high-throughput data and platform applications in a public cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Expertise across the modern data infrastructure stack, including MySQL, NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra), and event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka).
  • A demonstrated ability to drive operational rigor and achieve excellent system availability for critical production services.
  • Experience applying DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to managed services.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
