Caterpillar is looking for an experienced Enterprise Payments Domain (Payment Networks & Standards) Lead to serve as the company's subject matter expert for payment networks, payment methods, and payment industry standards. This role sits at the center of how enterprise payment capabilities are defined and implemented, directly influencing customer payment experiences, compliance with payment network requirements, and the long term scalability of Caterpillar's enterprise payments ecosystem.
You will be responsible for translating payment network rules, industry standards, and enterprise payment strategy into clear requirements, implementation guidance, and execution plans that can be consistently adopted across business units and digital platforms.
Your focus is to ensure payment capabilities are designed correctly from the beginning, not just technically integrated. This includes helping teams understand network requirements, customer obligations, payment method considerations, and operational impacts before solutions are implemented.
You will work across multiple business units, digital teams, and enterprise partners - and must be relentless in driving alignment and clarity. Success in this role requires the ability to simplify complex payment concepts, influence diverse stakeholders, and ensure enterprise payment initiatives are scalable, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices.
What you will do:
  • Serve as Caterpillar's subject matter expert for payment networks, payment methods, and payment industry standards
  • Define and maintain enterprise payment standards, functional requirements, and implementation guidance across business units
  • Interpret and translate payment network and scheme requirements into actionable business and product requirement

Provide guidance on:
  • Card network requirements (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • ACH and NACHA requirements SEPA and international payment schemes
  • Recurring and subscription payment models Merchant of Record (MoR) considerations
  • Customer communication requirements
  • Refunds, reversals, and dispute processes

In Addition:
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure payment experiences are designed in accordance with industry standards and network requirements
  • Translate enterprise payments strategy into prioritized execution plans and implementation approaches

Support planning and execution for:
  • New payment method enablement
  • PSP onboarding and transitions
  • Geographic expansion initiatives
  • Enterprise payment capability enhancements

Also:
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and operational impacts associated with payment initiatives
  • Partner with the Enterprise Payments Governance & Operations Lead to ensure standards and governance decisions are translated into implementation guidance
  • Monitor payment industry, network, and scheme changes and assess impacts across enterprise platforms
  • Drive adoption of enterprise payment standards across business units and digital products
  • Lead end-to-end coordination of payment domain requirements, aligning product, engineering, operations, finance, and business stakeholders

  • Enterprise payment initiatives are implemented consistently across business units
  • Product and engineering teams have clear guidance on payment requirements before development begins
  • Payment network and industry requirements are identified early and incorporated into solution design
  • New payment capabilities launch with minimal rework due to overlooked payment standards
  • Business units adopt enterprise payment standards rather than creating unique approaches
  • Payment method expansion efforts are executed efficiently and consistently
  • Payment-related customer experiences follow industry best practices and network requirements
  • Stakeholders view the Enterprise Payments CoE as a trusted advisor for payment expertise
  • Enterprise payment roadmaps align with both business priorities and industry requirements

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • 5-7 years of experience in payments, product management, product strategy, enterprise platforms, fintech, financial services, or related domains
  • Deep practical experience with:
    1. Card payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
    2. ACH, NACHA, and alternative bank payment rails
    3. Payment processing and lifecycle management
    4. Payment Service Providers (PSPs)
    5. Recurring and subscription payments
  • Proven ability to translate complex requirements into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of digital commerce, customer payment journeys, and enterprise platforms
  • Experience working across multiple teams and organizations to drive alignment and execution
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence decisions without direct authority
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent working experience

Desirable Skills For This Position:
  • Direct experience working for a PSP, payment processor, acquiring bank, fintech, or large-scale eCommerce organization
  • Experience interpreting and implementing Visa, Mastercard, NACHA, or SEPA requirements
  • Experience supporting global payment capabilities across multiple regions and markets
  • Experience with:
    1. Merchant of Record models
    2. PCI compliance and tokenization
    3. Subscription lifecycle management
    4. Payment orchestration platforms
    5. Customer billing and invoicing solutions
  • Background in product strategy, payments consulting, enterprise transformation, or payments architecture
  • Experience evaluating and recommending payment methods and payment service providers
  • Proven ability to drive enterprise-wide adoption of standards and best practices
  • Ability to translate highly technical payment concepts into business-friendly guidance

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
