IT Revenue Cycle Director

Engagement Type: Consulting (Contract)

Location: Remote with potential onsite visits

The IT Revenue Cycle Director (Consultant) will serve as a strategic advisor and operational leader for a hospital revenue cycle organization, partnering closely with executive stakeholders to assess current-state performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive measurable financial and operational outcomes. This consultant will leverage deep expertise in Epic revenue cycle workflows to optimize processes, strengthen compliance, and enhance the overall patient financial experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Revenue Cycle Assessment
    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of end-to-end revenue cycle operations, including Patient Access, HIM/Coding, Billing, AR Management, and Denials.
    • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and root causes impacting financial performance.
    • Develop actionable recommendations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Epic Revenue Cycle Optimization
  • Performance Improvement & Analytics
  • Support Operational Leadership & Change Management
  • Compliance & Regulatory Guidance

Qualifications:

Required

  • 8+ years of progressive hospital revenue cycle leadership or consulting experience.
  • Strong expertise with Epic revenue cycle modules (HB, PB, HIM, Cadence).
  • Proven success leading revenue cycle improvement initiatives in acute care settings.
  • Deep understanding of professional & hospital billing, reimbursement, and payer requirements.
  • Executive presence and ability to drive change.

Preferred

  • Epic certification(s) in relevant modules.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement background.
  • Experience supporting multi-hospital or integrated delivery networks.

  • Analytical, data-driven, and skilled at translating insights into action.
  • Comfortable leading both strategic planning and hands-on operational improvement.
