Position Summary
The Epic Program Manager serves as the Information Services (IS) Program Lead for a Cancer Center activation. This role is responsible for coordinating the planning, execution, and delivery of Epic-related work required to support the successful activation of the facility. As this is a new location within an existing Epic environment, this position provides program leadership to coordinate implementation activities across Epic applications, third-party systems, infrastructure, and operational stakeholders. This role is remote with 25% travel. 

The Program Manager does not have direct responsibility for Epic application teams or enterprise Information Services departments.

Instead, the role partners with:
  • Epic Application Vice Presidents
  • Directors
  • Epic Advisor
  • Application Managers
  • Integration Manager operational leadership to coordinate work, manage cross-functional dependencies, monitor progress, and ensure IT readiness through go-live and stabilization.

The Program Manager also serves as the primary Information Services counterpart to an external Program Manager, ensuring implementation timelines, interdependencies, risks, issues, testing activities, and go-live readiness remain aligned across organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership
  • Lead Information Services program management activities supporting the activation.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated implementation schedule for Epic, technical, and third-party workstreams.
  • Coordinate activities across Information Services, operational teams, external partners, and vendors.
  • Monitor program progress, identify risks, and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Provide executive-level program reporting and support governance activities.

Epic & Technology Coordination
  • Coordinate implementation activities across Epic application teams and supporting technologies.
  • Partner with Application Managers, the Integration Manager, and technical teams to manage cross-application dependencies, implementation milestones, and testing readiness.
  • Coordinate third-party vendor activities, interface implementation, and integrated testing.
  • Support planning for cutover, command center, go-live, and stabilization.

Program Coordination
  • Partner with an external Program Manager to maintain a coordinated implementation plan across organizations.
  • Ensure timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues remain synchronized across workstreams.
  • Facilitate cross-organizational communication and coordinate integrated testing, cutover, and go-live activities.

Program Governance
  • Maintain the Integrated Master Schedule for Information Services activities.
  • Coordinate risk, issue, dependency, and decision management across participating teams.
  • Prepare executive dashboards, status reports, readiness assessments, and Steering Committee updates.
  • Support overall IT readiness for Go-Live Readiness Assessments.


Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of healthcare IT project or program management experience.
  • Experience supporting Epic implementations or major Epic activation projects.
  • Experience coordinating large, cross-functional healthcare technology initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Epic implementation methodologies and healthcare operational workflows.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives through influence in a matrixed environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Epic implementations within integrated delivery networks or academic medical centers.
  • Experience working on multi-organizational healthcare implementations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability, third-party integrations, and go-live planning.
