Job Description:

Executive Producer, Enterprise 

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an Executive Producer to lead its Enterprise video team. Based in New York, this role oversees quick turn and long lede enterprise and video investigations coverage.

This position calls for a deeply experienced editorial leader with exceptional production and management skills, a global mindset, and the ability to drive both fast-moving coverage of news enterprise pieces and ambitious longform projects. The ideal candidate will be decisive, collaborative, and deeply invested in producing exceptional content. You really get storytelling, pacing and building audience connection, and also know how to bring out the best in producers, reporters and correspondents. 

You will work closely with colleagues across the newsroom to deliver distinctive, revelatory and news-making journalism. You’ll shape ideas, push creative, and build compelling new formats.

This is both a leadership and hands-on role. The position will report to the Head of Video.

You will:

  • Lead and mentor enterprise team in NY, fostering collaboration, growth and innovation.

  • Drive coverage of quick turn enterprise stories and visual investigations off of the news cycle, while also overseeing longer lede enterprise pieces; 

  • Shape and refine story ideas, scripts and edits to ensure high production values and the highest journalistic standards.

  • Work closely with video journalists to hone story angles, strengthen scripts and ensure videos maintain the highest production value and all journalistic and legal standards are followed.

  • Work closely with video leadership conceptualize and program a pipeline to deliver ambitious enterprise work at a regular cadence. 

  • Collaborate with newsroom leaders and reporting teams to develop and build video journalism pieces across all formats and partner to align and complement our overall editorial strategy 

  • Build relationships with the global newsroom in order to develop a more video-forward way of thinking.

  • Partner with strategy, product and audience teams to develop distinctive video formats that resonate with audiences and execute an enterprise strategy in alignment with the rest of the global newsroom.

You have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a daily video news environment, with a focus on enterprise and investigative reporting, including managing a team.

  • A track record of producing distinctive enterprise and investigative coverage, and timely investigative analysis that stands out in the 24/7 information cycle.

  • Exceptional editorial judgment, communication and decision-making skills under pressure.

  • Strong script-writing and editing experience under tight deadlines.

  • Experience with documentary and series development and production.

  • Experience in OSINT reporting, gathering and analyzing publicly available information.

  • A sharp eye for stories that resonate with WSJ’s audience and a deep understanding of current events, global politics, economics and business

  • Experience building a strategic vision for ambitious journalism across coverage areas and formats.

  • Experience working with reporters and correspondents to develop a voice and on-camera style

  • A specific understanding of content and audience differentiation on various platforms, including O&O and YouTube.

  • An impeccable eye for the smallest details.

  • The ability to foster and facilitate the personal development of team members.

Base Pay Range: 170,000 - 200,000
