Full-Time Salary Range: $136000 - $231200
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

The Chief Engineer (CE) is the Engineering Authority for all projects within F-35. The CE shall establish, maintain and continuously improve the Business's engineering management Framework, approved by the Line Leader, that:
- Meets the requirements of the Operational Framework and the Business promotes continuous improvements
- Ensures the Lifecycle Management Core Engineering Processes, Design Reviews and Technical Bid tailored for the Business
- Establishes engineering policies, processes, information assets and guidance
- Ensures functional personnel have the skills required to engineer the Business's Products
- Establishes measures of functional performance, assurance and technical oversight
- Ensure the Products are managed in accordance with the Business's engineering management Framework
- Appoint qualified and experienced engineering delegated authorities appropriate for the Product Lifecycle
- Ensure that the Product's design undergoes design and, where appropriate, management reviews throughout the Product Lifecycle
- Ensure that critical aspects of Product design are subject to appropriate independent scrutiny
- Certify Products as required for the intended market(s) as appropriate to the contract
- Ensure that each of the Business's Products conforms with the relevant Product Security Engineering standard or requirement mandated by the customer under the terms of the contract between the Company and the customer for that Product
Chief Engineer role technology responsibilities are to:
- Ensure that the technical solutions of business proposals are innovative, as well as operationally viable, and financially sound
- Support the development of the Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
- Develop and maintain a technical roadmap to meet IBP commitments, ensuring technical investments support filling the gaps identified on the roadmap
- Track key industry partners and small businesses that have key strategic capability needed for the organization's strategic plan
- Track and maintain technical capabilities
- Ensure technical investments have sound business cases, are relevant, meet business objectives, and position the organization for growth. Lead quarterly reviews on investments to ensure plans are on track
- Track and maintain technical best practices in delivering engineering services
- Develop and maintain technical competence roadmap and develop plans to fill gaps identified through training or acquiring talent
- Serve as the focal point of cross-business and cross-sector engineering coordination and collaborations within BAE Systems, as well as the engineering point of contact for external interfaces
- Support company Merger & Acquisition activities, as needed
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate Engineering field of study for aeronautics technologies
- At least 15 years' experience managing engineering teams working large and diverse projects/programs
- Airworthiness/Product Safety experience
- Strategic thinker with a growth mindset, experience in IBP and business expansion
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience on the F-35 program
- Experience with Quality Management Systems, Risk and Opportunity Management Systems, and the Atlassian toolset
- Experience with AGILE philosophy
- UK MOD airworthiness and product safety experience
- External engineering qualification, e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent
