Job Summary
This position is part of the Commercial/Field Financial Planning & Analysis Team; this team is tasked with bringing an analytical perspective as it partners with Underwriting Leadership to think strategically and drive execution.
As a technical expert, this position performs complex and critical financial analysis, translates analytics into actionable insights and provides strategic alternatives to management. The ability to build relationships across the organization and to exercise considerable latitude in approach and judgment are critical skills to succeed in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for annual profitability, production, head count, productivity and expense planning. In addition, on-going results assessment, emerging issue recognition and resolution, and information expertise.
2. Participates in defining the issues and scope of assigned projects; determines approach and methodology, and provides direction and strategy.
3. As senior-level financial expert independently investigates anomalies and variances in data.
4. Accountable for preparing and presenting interpretations of findings.
5. May participate in the development and implementation of financial strategies or tactics.
6. Coaches, leads and develops less experienced analysts while fostering a positive, open team environment.
7. Interacts and collaborates with other departments to address business issues and meet organizational objectives.
8. Provides insight and guidance as an expert or resource throughout the company.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues of a complex nature.
2. Excellent project management, prioritization and planning skills.
3. Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
4. Strong knowledge of corporate and departmental accounting/finance practices, procedures and principles as well as solid knowledge of an insurance organization and industry.
5. Proven leadership ability and able to effectively build and lead teams.
6. Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory and other complex accounting principles, practices and procedures which may include technical expertise in a functional area.
7. Thorough knowledge of an organization's systems with the ability to modify or develop new systems.
8. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, accounting systems and applications, and other business-related software systems.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics or business, or equivalent. Master's degree, CPA, CFA, CMA or professional insurance designation preferred.
2. Minimum five to eight years of related financial analysis experience.
