The Opportunity:
As the Payroll Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the payroll function for our dynamic company. The payroll team is engaged in building processes to manage continued hiring in multiple locations, new equity incentive plans and many other new requirements following our recent IPO. This is in addition to all our existing payroll functions that remain critical to ensuring a fantastic employee experience across our company. How your role contributes to the success of Vivid Seats:

  • You will ensure timely & accurate payroll processing for all Vivid employees. Nothing else matters if this doesn't happen each and every time.
  • You will draw upon your experience and ingenuity to solve complex problems. Payroll processes are always changing, whether because of changes in our business or changes in compliance requirements, or, most often, BOTH. You will be the person who develops and implements solutions and achieves great results on behalf of our employees.
  • You will utilize your Excel knowledge and computational abilities to solve complex problems, get the team over humps and continue to move things forward.
  • You will partner with our HR team to maintain excellence in the delivery of our compensation and benefit programs.
  • You will supervise and mentor others, challenging them to grow and maximize their potential.

How your role expectations will progress as a Payroll Manager in the first 30, 90, and 180 days:
30 days in

  • Complete new hire orientation, gaining the resources you need to be successful.
  • Learn about the Vivid employee base, our benefits and our compensation structures.
  • Acclimate to team and company norms, business objectives, and Vivid Seats values.
  • Learn the key components of our US & Canada payroll processes and their intricacies.

90 days in

  • Take responsibility for the complete payroll process, including reviews and related controls.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes and begin to formulate new approaches.
  • Develop and implement reconciliations for all payroll components to ensure accuracy.
  • Process journal entries and accruals for accounting team and any related monthly reporting.
  • Keep up to date and ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations and requirements
  • Partner with ADP to ensure accurate filing of payroll tax returns, reports, and documents

180 days in

  • Develop a roadmap for the payroll function to drive meaningful improvement going forward
  • Play an active role in continued learnings to advance skill sets across the payroll team
  • Lead payroll projects and continuously look for ways to automate and improve payroll processes, streamline inefficiencies, enable reports for collaborating with HR, Compensation and Finance teams.
  • Train the organization on best practice use of ADP; such as timecards, employee access, managerial approvals, basic reporting, navigation, and self-service.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline
  • 5+ years of experience within a payroll or accounting department. Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
  • Desire to increase payroll knowledge and expand overall responsibilities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with complex reconciliations
  • Incredible attention to detail and ability to self-audit
  • Experience enabling and generating reporting and analytics
  • Strong business acumen and genuine interest in learning the business
  • Experience with software systems, integrations and conversions preferred
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
