What is a Senior Financial Analyst at SpotHero?

The Senior Financial Analyst role reports to the Director of FP&A. This is a newly created SFA role that will play a key role in helping SpotHero manage expense growth. This SFA will partner extensively with our Engineering and Product teams to help quantify our product roadmap. Additionally, with the sizable investment associated to R&D, this SFA will serve as subject matter expert to planning and tracking our employee expenses and other Operating Expenses (Opex).

Primary areas of focus will include employee hiring and expense tracking, G&A planning, product roadmap quantification (in partnership with our business partners and Revenue SFA) and business case facilitation. Key deliverables will include assistance in the creation of annual planning of these areas as well as month and quarterly business reviews in addition to ad hoc business case analyses. Where possible the optimal outcome will be for the SFA to own many of these deliverables outright with support from the director.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Engineering and Product teams in the past as well as headcount and other opex planning experience. Additionally, they will have experience developing business cases and/or working within ambiguous spaces where there may be no clear right answer. Experience in forming business partnerships with senior leaders in an organization will also be beneficial in order to hit the ground running at SpotHero.

What you will do:

• Collaborate with business partners to track and forecast monthly and annual business expenses
• Act as a trusted advisor, driving key elements of the planning process and proactively communicating financial updates
• Partner with other departments and other Finance team members in the construction of business cases, serving as subject matter expert of operating expenses
• Partner with People Team and business stakeholders to develop human capital model to support business growth
• Collaborate with finance and accounting peers on month-end close activities, and ad-hoc projects
• Provide insightful analysis of business results to senior management and perform ad-hoc analyses that facilitate problem solving and decision making for business areas
• Assist with annual budget planning cycle and quarterly forecast updates
• Participate in development of monthly and quarterly operating reviews
• Compile financial analysis for Board meetings and other ad-hoc projects

What you should bring:

• Successful proven track record partnering with prior engineering or product teams to solve problems. Experience in leveraging Jira software tracking is a plus
• Experience planning headcount and expense planning and tracking
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and data formation
• Able to work independently and comfortable leading meetings as the finance representative
• Ability to translate key business drivers to financial outcomes through analysis and communicate business insights from financial metrics and operational data
• Strong analytical skills, organization, and curiosity to develop new methods and processes
• Business Case experience - providing expense insights
• Proven record of successful collaboration with teams outside of Finance
• Expert in Excel
• SQL skills a plus.
