Job Description
Position Overview:
The Vice President, Credit Risk- Personal and Home Equity loans is responsible for leading all aspects (underwriting and portfolio management) of first-line credit risk management for the Discover Personal Loan (DPL) and Home Equity (DHE) businesses. Responsible for ensuring that all DPL & DHE acquisition and portfolio meet profitability and credit loss hurdles and are within corporate risk appetite. Reporting to the Chief Credit Risk Officer, the Vice President is responsible for developing and owning acquisition and total portfolio credit quality risk appetites and KRIs and reporting performance and needed action plans to company Credit Committees.
Responsibilities:
Leads the first-line Credit function for Discover Personal Loan and Home Equity businesses.
Leads a team of Directors, Managers and analytic staff in developing acquisition and portfolio credit risk strategies, on-going performance analyses, and reporting to ensure loans meet expected profitability hurdles and credit loss targets.
Provides counsel to business unit managers on issues related to credit strategy and credit risk, and evaluates significant transactions and/or capital commitments prior to execution.
Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required risk appetites, Credit Committee structure, policies, standards and processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
Bachelor's Degree in Quantitative/Analytic field of study, or related field
10+ years of experience in Credit Risk Management or other related analytic functions
Strong Interpersonal and communication skills required
People leadership experience required
