This is a hybrid remote (hub anchored) Corporate position. Our Corporate hub locations are in Bethesda, MD and Frederick, MD. Candidates must be within driving distance to one of these hubs and will be required to go into the office at least 2 days a week.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in government contracting, nonprofit finance, or research organizations.
- Expertise in FP&A, KPI/KHI development, predictive forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Deep understanding federal grant and contract compliance, OTAs, FAR, DFARS, CAS, and Single Audit requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and digital modernization initiatives, e.g., Deltek, Unanet, JAMIS).
- Strong skills in cash management, working capital optimization, and financial modeling.
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize impact over departmental interests.
Responsibilities
- Innovation & Data-Driven Financial Leadership
- Lead enterprise financial innovation initiatives, including predictive analytics, dashboards, automation, and advanced financial modeling.
- Develop and maintain real-time KPIs/KHIs dashboards at the project, department, and enterprise levels.
- Provide actionable insights using trend analysis, scenario modeling, and forward-looking projections to guide strategic decisions.
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, encouraging continuous learning within Finance & Accounting.
Accounting & Controller Functions
- Oversee accounting operations: GL, journal entries, reconciliations, grant/project accounting, and month-end close.
- Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements integrating dashboard analytics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain audit readiness for Single Audits, DCAA reviews, and other external examinations.
- Manage indirect cost pools, provisional rate proposals, and cost allocations in compliance with federal regulations.
- Approve accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with enterprise objectives.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, emphasizing enterprise-level outcomes.
- Conduct variance analysis, scenario planning, and predictive modeling to identify risks and opportunities.
- Track, analyze, and report KPIs/KHIs to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Evaluate program-level financial performance for all contracts, federal grants, industry sponsored clinical trials, and OTAs.
Operational Finance & Cash Management
- Optimize cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to strengthen organizational financial health.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, grant/contract accounting, and other core finance operations.
- Lead digital modernization initiatives, including ERP evaluations, process automation, and reporting enhancements.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to simplify workflows, reduce errors, and strengthen financial governance.
Government Contracting & Nonprofit Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with federal grants, contracts, and OTAs, including invoicing, reporting, and documentation.
- Oversee Single Audit preparation, nonprofit financial reporting, IRS compliance, and sponsor specific restrictions.
- Manage indirect cost applications, rate negotiations, and allocation policies to maximize compliant cost recovery.
Strategic Leadership & Enterprise Impact
- Serve as second-in-command to the Director, representing Finance & Accounting in enterprise-level decision-making forums.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing, innovation-driven finance team.
- Ensure departmental priorities align with broader organizational objectives, promoting enterprise-first decision-making.
- Partner cross-functionally to integrate financial insights into strategy, program planning, and operational execution.
