Circle is building the world's leading digital currency and payments infrastructure. The AI Strategy & Transformation Team is a small, high-impact tiger team responsible for proving and scaling agentic systems that materially change how the company operates.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer , you will serve as a builder, translator, and change agent. You will work directly with the Director of AI Strategy & Transformation and embed with internal teams to identify bottlenecks, imagine parallel AI-powered systems, and turn those ideas into working agentic systems that deliver real business impact.
This is an experimental, action-oriented role for someone who enjoys ambiguity, moves quickly from idea to prototype, and has the judgment and communication skills to bring stakeholders along.
What You Will Do
  • Partner with internal functional leaders and subject matter expects to identify high-friction processes and high-value opportunities to redesign how work gets done using AI.
  • Rapidly prototype, ship, and iterate agent workflows that drive measurable improvements in speed, quality, or efficiency.
  • Build trust with non-technical stakeholders through clear communication, demos, and practical enablement.
  • Design and maintain evaluation and feedback loops (e.g., LangChain-based evals) to assess quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Capture what works and turn it into reusable patterns, playbooks, templates, and internal tooling.
  • Surface insights from field work to inform broader AI strategy, product direction, and organizational design.
  • Model strong engineering hygiene: documentation, versioning, monitoring, and continuous iteration.

What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)
  • Multiple teams adopt agentic workflows that materially reduce time-to-outcome or operational burden.
  • Stakeholders begin to rethink their processes and organizational design based on what you've built.
  • Teams can safely iterate on agentic systems using your playbooks, tools, and guidance.
  • Proven patterns accelerate new deployments across the company.

Who You Are
  • You have a bias toward action: you'd rather build, test, and learn than wait for perfect clarity.
  • You enjoy being a fresh set of eyes inside complex organizations and questioning "the way we've always done it."
  • You're comfortable working with non-technical partners who may be cautious or less knowledgeable about AI, and know how to meet them where they are.
  • You balance creativity and pragmatism: bold ideas, grounded execution.
  • You take ownership from first sketch to real-world impact.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong software fundamentals and ability to ship production-quality code.
  • Experience with LLM tooling or agent frameworks
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and defining the problem as you go.
  • Clear, empathetic communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ownership and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to evaluation, experimentation, or quality measurement for AI systems.
  • Experience building internal tools, workflows, or automations for business teams.
  • Interest in teaching, enablement, or documentation as a force multiplier.
