Job Title: Founding Hardware Engineer, Tactile Systems
Company Description: Monty AI - Building physical AI data infrastructure for humanoid robotics
Job Description:
You will lead the tactile glove program, designing the hardware stack that generates training data for the next wave of humanoid robots. You'll own sensor integration, rigid-flex PCB design, and firmware development while managing external partners for mechanical and industrial design. This is a unique opportunity to work with novel MEMS-based tactile sensors.
Location: San Francisco, USA
Why this role is remarkable:
Work with world-class founders from Meta Superintelligence Labs, Intel, and Stanford on the cutting edge of physical AI.
Access proprietary, state-of-the-art active MEMS sensors with on-chip digitization through an exclusive hardware joint venture.
Flexible founding-level role with significant equity upside and the chance to build a real hardware moat for humanoid robotics.
What you will do:
Architect and design high-density tactile glove electronics, including rigid-flex PCB layout, power distribution, and signal integrity.
Develop low-level firmware for sensor data acquisition, synchronization, and deterministic streaming using RTOS and C/C++ protocols.
Quarterback external mechanical and industrial design partners to ensure ergonomics, durability, and manufacturability of wearable hardware.
The ideal candidate:
Proven track record of shipping complex wearables or integrated hardware products from bench prototype to pilot production.
Expert-level skill in rigid-flex multilayer PCB design using Altium and embedded firmware development for sensor fusion.
Demonstrated experience managing external ME/ID contractors and manufacturing partners while maintaining a high bar for data fidelity.
