What you’ll do here:

  • Create and build user-facing features to be integrated on thousands of client websites
  • Work with project managers to create and build custom features for Enterprise client websites on occasion
  • Work with Photoshop, Sketch, and the like to mock up page elements, typography improvements, etc for our design framework
  • Review pull requests, and write technical documentation for our engineers
  • Help and share knowledge with other engineers
  • Help develop a robust design framework that enables easy superficial theming.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working with large-scale production codebases and mission-critical systems.
  • Strong PHP knowledge.
  • Strong JavaScript knowledge.
  • Strong WordPress knowledge, including experience building custom plugins or themes.
  • Strong semantic HTML and CSS knowledge, including modern and legacy techniques for reusable components and layouts.
  • Good understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • A keen eye for good web design and user experience.
  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals and performance best practices.
  • Experience with Twig templating is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Motivated, hard-working, and able to lead by example.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience developing Gutenberg blocks or extending the WordPress Block Editor.
  • Familiarity with React, including building custom editor components or block interfaces.
  • Understanding of WordPress block-based theme development, including theme.json and block pattern systems.
  • Experience migrating or refactoring classic themes to a Gutenberg-based architecture.
  • Knowledge of block.json configuration, editor styling, and content synchronization patterns.
  • Experience with modern front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite, Babel, etc.) in a WordPress environment.
  • Passion for improving editor UX and enabling non-technical users to build beautiful, accessible websites.
  • Collaborative mindset — able to work closely with design, product, and engineering to shape the future of the FH.me platform.
