Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Global Category Sourcing Manager to join our team in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. This role contributes to the success of the organization’s global sourcing strategy, ensuring the achievement of cost efficiencies, supplier excellence, and the long-term sustainability of the supply chain.

Each role is a vital part of our supply chain community, with a focus on building trust, nurturing relationships, and fostering teamwork across the organization. As you grow within the role, you will have more opportunities to mentor, support, and guide others, ensuring accounting strategies align with our shared vision for success.

This role would focus on Fasteners, which includes but is not limited to screws, nuts, bolts, washers, and pins.  This category consists of a mix between VMI programs and long lead time purchases for domestic distributors and overseas vendors. This role supports manufacturing sites in North America and overseas.

Position Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (3x per week) based out of Deerfield, IL. Effective fall 2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions. The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness and recreation. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of global sourcing strategies for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and global priorities.
  • Evaluate market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and commodity trends to identify opportunities that enhance performance and competitive positioning.
  • Deliver strategic insights and recommendations to leadership to support sourcing initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Assess and mitigate supplier risks by developing and implementing effective contingency plans to ensure supply continuity.
  • Partner closely with cross‑functional teams, including Master Scheduling, Planning, Manufacturing, Distribution Centers, and external suppliers, to meet customer and operational requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance, track key KPIs, and drive ongoing improvement across the supply base.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline
  • 2–5 years of experience in Supply Chain or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and manage category strategies and supplier networks
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience managing complex supplier agreements
  • Proven track record of initiating and executing projects that reduce cost, enhance productivity, mitigate supplier risk, and expand capacity
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Agile, Oracle) and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong collaborative mindset with effective communication and problem‑solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience consolidating SKUs and spend across a diverse supplier base
  • Experience developing SKU and component catalogs
  • Hands‑on experience with RFQs
  • Experience managing large tail spend and portfolios of 500+ SKUs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $80,000 USD - $110,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
