DESCRIPTION

The Great Lakes Managing Executive is a senior growth leader and enterprise integrator responsible for accelerating growth and brand recognition by unifying MBI’s Engineering, Consulting, and Technology capabilities across all markets and verticals within their Region. This role is designed for a high‑energy, entrepreneurial leader who is fundamentally grounded, future‑focused, and passionate about solving complex client challenges through integrated solutions. The Great Lakes Managing Executive will lead and enable regional growth by strengthening existing client relationships, developing new partnerships across MBI’s service offerings, advancing priority pursuits and top opportunities, supporting group vertical pipeline development, and championing a unified people, culture, and brand presence across all business lines.

Regional Executives operate with a One MBI mindset, serving as the connective tissue between all business lines and verticals to ensure a common experience, unified culture, and strong regional market presence. While the role does not carry direct P&L or delegated authority, it is critical to driving measurable regional and local growth. This role requires considerable travel of up to 50%. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Regional Growth & Strategic Pursuits

  • Develop and execute regional growth plans aligned with MBI’s enterprise strategy
  • Drive key pursuit identification and capture across all verticals
  • Coordinate cross‑business line collaboration to develop new opportunities with key clients bring the best of MBI

2. Client Account Leadership

  • Partner with business line leaders to guide, influence, and implement client account management plans
  • Deepen executive‑level client relationships and expand MBI’s footprint within priority accounts
  • Ensure integrated solutions that leverage Engineering, Consulting, and Technology capabilities

3. Pipeline & Market Activation

  • Increase the volume and quality of leads and pipeline, aligned to strategic growth priorities
  • Provide direction and market insight to regional teams to strengthen early‑stage opportunity development
  • Act as a visible growth catalyst across local and regional markets

4. People, Culture & Engagement

  • Champion unified people and culture initiatives at the regional level across all business lines
  • Reinforce a common employee experience, including leadership engagement and programs 
  • Foster collaboration, inclusion, and shared accountability for growth

5. Regional Governments Relations and Brand Leadership

  • Serve as a senior ambassador for the Michael Baker International brand in the region and local markets
  • Develop and expand MBI relationships with government officials at the State and local levels to become the solution of choice for integrated solutions
  • Manage and implement regional government affairs plans
  • Represent MBI at strategic government and meetings
  • Represent regional offices and services lines to the MBI PAC for recommendations of support
  • Build and sustain strong external relationships with clients, partners, and influencers
  • Advise executive leadership on local and regional not for profit and charitable engagements
  • Ensure consistent “One MBI” messaging and experience in all regional engagements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Proven senior leader with a growth, client, and enterprise mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaboration 
  • Strong regional ties to the business and government community
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to connect strategy to action
  • Deep appreciation for integrated services and complex solution selling
  • Entrepreneurial, optimistic, and energized by building something enduring

COMPENSATION

The approximate base compensation range for this position is $350K-$450K. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
