About Salmon

Salmon is a technology-driven financial company building a banking and lending platform across Southeast Asia, starting in the Philippines. In three years, we've grown to 7M+ app downloads, 2M+ monthly active users, 7000+ partner stores, and US$350M+ raised from top-tier investors.

You get real ownership from day one, high standards, and direct communication. You'll work alongside a team that combines deep local knowledge with experience scaling regulated financial companies from scratch.

About the Role

Salmon operates across the Philippines, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi (ADGM), and our tax position has to hold up in all three at once. You'll own that.

You report to the Head of Group Tax and work independently across corporate income tax, withholding and indirect taxes, international taxation, structuring, and transfer pricing. Transfer pricing is a core part of the mandate, but not the whole job — you're the Group's go-to technical voice on tax, full stop.

This is a hands-on seat for someone who can take a complex tax question, work it through alone, and land on a position the business can act on.

What You'll Do

  • Research and resolve complex tax questions independently, and translate them into clear positions finance, product, tech, and commercial teams can act on.

  • Own tax compliance across corporate income tax, withholding, and indirect taxes — partnering with local teams and external advisors to hit deadlines and document positions properly.

  • Evaluate tax implications of new-market expansion, holding structure and capital optimization, profit repatriation, and any future M&A.

  • Advise on permanent establishment risk, withholding taxes, indirect tax exposure, and treaty applications, including RMC No. 5-2024 on services performed by non-residents.

  • Coordinate with external consultants to build a global transfer pricing framework covering intercompany service agreements, IP/tech licensing, and financial transactions.

  • Lead preparation of Local Files, Master Files, and Country-by-Country Reporting, and keep them audit-ready.

  • Manage benchmarking studies run by external consultants and confirm they're applied correctly and kept current.

  • Partner with Tech and Product on the tax implications of new launches and geographic expansion.

  • Lead technically during BIR or other tax authority audits, including transfer pricing, and build the defense file.

  • Monitor intercompany transactions monthly and quarterly against transfer pricing policy, and confirm they're properly invoiced and documented.

What You'll Own

  • The Group's technical tax position across three jurisdictions — nothing routes around you on tax.

  • Transfer pricing documentation and defense, end to end.

  • Tax input on every new market, structure, or product decision that touches tax.

  • The BIR audit relationship and defense when it comes.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • With 6-10 years of broad tax experience spanning corporate income tax, international tax, structuring, and transfer pricing, with a track record of owning complex matters end to end.

  • Big 4 tax practice at Manager level, or in-house tax at a fintech, is the ideal path here.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Law; a professional certification is a strong plus.

  • Deep working knowledge of OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and BEPS 2.0, plus BIR and IRAS regulations.

  • Can turn dense tax concepts into a straight answer a non-tax stakeholder can act on.

  • Comfortable owning ambiguous, competing priorities with minimal oversight.

  • Thrives founder-led and high-pressure, and builds process from scratch rather than waiting for one to exist.

What We Offer

You'll work directly with the Head of Group Tax on live, cross-border problems that shape how Salmon expands — not theoretical tax exercises. You'll have real autonomy and a direct line to the decisions your work informs, across finance, product, and tech.
This role requires relocation to Manila.
