The Heavy Duty Components & Modification (HDCM) Platform Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role within the HDCM Platform of Marmon’s Transportation finance organization, supporting the HDCM Platform Controller in overseeing consolidated financial operations for six international businesses, ensuring accounting accuracy, maintaining strong internal controls, and enabling high quality financial reporting. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, Executive Leadership and Marmon Corporate Accounting & Finance to drive consistency, compliance, and efficiency across the enterprise while driving centralization and standardization efforts across the platform. Seeking high potential candidate with geographic mobility and desire to be a company controller in 2 – 3 years. Current preferred location is Houston, TX, Cullman, AL, or Chicago, IL, but candidates in other locations may be considered.Financial Reporting and Consolidation:
- Consolidate, review, and analyze business unit financials and related schedules to identify trends, issues, and opportunities, including month-end and quarter-end close, monthly forecasts and the annual budget
- Prepare, review and analyze the consolidated monthly reporting for the newly integrated Marmon Powertrain Solutions entity
- Distribute final consolidated financial statements, forecasts, and budgets to Platform and Group management teams
- Review quarterly analytics provided by business units and work closely with the business units to revise as needed.
- Assist in preparing platform presentations and consolidated financial schedules for Quarterly Business Reviews with Marmon Management
Annual Budgeting and Reporting:
- Coordinate, review and consolidate the Annual Budget process for the Platform in close collaboration with the BU management teams
- Participate in annual budget meetings with Group, platform and business unit leadership, gaining visibility to financial plans, growth efforts, and long-range strategic thinking.
- Ensure annual forms and quarterly/ad-hoc requests from Marmon Corporate/Legal/Risk Management are completed by all member companies
Operational and Business Partnering:
- Collaborate with Platform Controller and Business Unit Controllers to identify and implement centralization and standardization initiatives
- Learn business units’ processes, systems and teams and then assist with deliverables during employment gaps
- Assist in the review of capital expenditure and restructuring requests; perform post audits of significant capital and restructuring projects.
- Assist in evaluation, due diligence and integration of potential acquisitions
- Supporting customer and product optimization (80/20) analysis, as well as production efficiency, quality and profitability improvement efforts (Lean manufacturing).
- Ad hoc financial analysis and other projects
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in progressive accounting/financial analysis positions
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset a must
- Ability to operate independently and multi-task
- CPA designation and/or audit experience preferred but not required
- Position requires approximately 30% travel on average, including international travel
- MUST be willing to relocate in 2-3 years for promotional opportunities
