The Head of Marketing at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to shape strategy, influence outcomes and drive measurable impact in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. The Head of Marketing is a hands-on leader of our marketing function and will elevate our brand as the go-to advisor for middle market stakeholders. The Head of Marketing will report directly to the COO and lead a high-performing team while collaborating across practice lines to drive brand awareness, lead generation and business development. Areas of focus will include content creation, digital platform management, public relations, event management and external communications. You will be the firm’s chief brand ambassador, responsible for crafting and executing a differentiated marketing strategy that reflects our values and fuels our growth. Responsibilities
- Partner with the Execute Leadership Team (ELT) to curate and implement a differentiated, omni-channel marketing strategy
- Own brand recognition, brand awareness and brand guidelines
- Collaborate with Practice Lines (PL) and Coverage to execute business development activities and marketing events with demonstrable return on investment
- Develop and implement content strategy including new collateral / campaign creation and existing collateral / campaign refinement highlighting subject matter and industry expertise
- Lead external communication strategy creation and implementation, including public relations
- Manage digital platforms including but limited to LinkedIn and website
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to execute effective employment marketing strategy
- Establish and facilitate efficient, cost-effective operating procedures leveraging analytics, automation, AI and global marketing talent
- Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) accurately reporting marketing activities and outcomes
- Effectively manage marketing technology including configuration, administration and user training
- Maintain digital asset management systems (i.e. qualifications, credentials, tombstones, icons, logos, case studies, etc.)
- Maintain standard materials (i.e. firm overviews, brochures, PL specific materials, industry specific materials, etc.)
- Manage change developing adequate levels of awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members
- Lead business development and client relationship efforts
- Lead talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives
- Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program; preferably in an applicable field of study including but not limited to English, journalism, creative writing, communications, marketing and / or public relations
- Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas or New York
- Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
- 15 plus years of marketing experience in professional services, private equity or investment banking
- Experience in a creative agency or production house preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects and communicate with senior executives
- Exceptional writing, storytelling and presentation skills
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams
- High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset
- Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments
