Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of claims professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and compliance.
• Oversee all aspects of claim management (including Workers Comp, DBA, A&H and Warranty Claims), ensuring prompt and accurate claims resolution.
• Set and monitor performance standards, reserving philosophies, authority levels, and litigation management protocols in partnership with the Global Chief Claims Officer and other functional leaders.
• Continuously evaluate and implement best practices, processes, and technology enhancements to optimize claims operations and improve claims outcomes.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for complex and high-value claims, providing strategic direction and technical oversight.
• Build strong relationships with underwriters, actuaries, legal counsel, and other departments to support profitable underwriting, reserving best practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory matters, client/broker meetings, and mediations/arbitrations as appropriate.
• Prepare and present regular management reporting, trend analysis, and insights to senior leadership, recommending improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable US state and federal regulations as well as internal policies.
• Lead and support initiatives around talent development, recruitment, and succession planning within the claims team.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, law, or related field (advanced degree or industry designation—such as CPCU, AIC, ARM—a plus).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in property claims management within the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Deep technical expertise in claims in workers comp and DBA Claims and litigation management.
• Strong understanding of US insurance market, coverage interpretation, reserving and exposure evaluation, and claims compliance.
• Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to drive change and support organizational growth.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; able to interact at all levels internally and externally.
• High level of integrity, strategic thinking, and sound decision-making ability.
• Proficient with modern claims systems, data analysis tools, and MS Office Suite.
