CampusWorks, Inc.
Higher Education Human Resources Consultants/Interim Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
The HR Consultant/Interim CHRO role involves leading HR transformation, implementing HR strategies, and advising on finance projects in higher education settings.
This is not your average higher education human resources leadership role. At CampusWorks, we partner with colleges and universities to transform the way HR delivers value — and we’re looking for a proven HR executive to serve as onsite Chief Human Resources Officer and trusted consultants.
In this unique role, you’ll bring your expertise as a higher ed HR leader to:
• Elevate your impact by serving simultaneously as a CHRO and consultant.
• Lead HR transformation initiatives that improve service delivery, compliance, and employee experience.
• Design and implement HR strategies and systems that align with institutional goals and strengthen culture.
• Partner directly with senior leadership and stakeholders to drive change, engagement, and accountability.
• Stay connected to CampusWorks’ national network of experts and resources while making a lasting impact locally.
A hybrid presence may be required with frequent travel to client locations.
Why This Role is Different
- Unlike a traditional CHRO role, this opportunity lets you:
- Expand your reach — leverage your higher education HR expertise while serving as a strategic advisor and change leader.
- Drive transformation — guide institutions through modernization of HR systems, processes, and culture.
- Balance leadership and consulting — manage day-to-day HR operations while influencing strategy at the executive level.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership with at least 5 years as the head of HR in a higher education institution.
- A proven record of transforming HR services and delivery in higher education.
- Strong knowledge of HR systems (HCM, ATS, payroll/benefits) and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Agility to navigate politically sensitive environments and shifting priorities.
- This is your chance to elevate your career — moving beyond a traditional HR leadership role to shape the future of HR in higher education while making a direct impact on the institutions we serve.
Preferred: Master’s degree and/or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification.
