Job Summary:

Build the Future of HR. We’re not looking for someone to maintain HR. We’re looking for someone to reinvent it.
This is a high-impact, earlier-career role for someone obsessed with making things faster, smarter, and better using AI. If you’re the type of person who sees a manual process and immediately thinks “this should be automated,” keep reading.
You’ll help us build an AI-native HR function from the ground up—rethinking onboarding, employee support, reporting, and more.

Responsibilities:

Build AI Into Everything

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation across HR operations (onboarding, employee support, reporting, etc.)

  • Partner with HR leadership to pilot and implement AI-native workflows and tools

  • Continuously improve processes to reduce manual work and enhance employee experience

  • Help build scalable, self-service resources using AI (knowledge bases, chat support, etc.)

Run Core HR Operations (and make them awesome)

  • Manage the onboarding lifecycle from offer letter through new hire integration, ensuring a best-in-class and compliant experience across multiple states.

  • Oversee and continuously improve the New Hire orientation sessions to align with company culture and scaling needs.

  • Coordinate and manage the offboarding process to ensure smooth transitions and compliance.

  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all onboarding and offboarding documentation and system updates.

Support Benefits & Employee Experience

  • Support administration of employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, etc.)

  • Assist with enrollments, life events, and employee questions

  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth operations

  • Support leave of absence and accommodations processes

Use Data to Drive Decisions

  • Maintain accurate employee records and support regular audits

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

  • Stay informed on HR compliance requirements and best practices

  • Utilize HR systems (Workday or similar) for data entry and workflow management

  • Support reporting and basic data analysis

  • Help identify trends and opportunities for improvement

Be a Go-To for Employees

  • Respond to employee inquiries with a high level of care and responsiveness

  • Support HR programs and initiatives across the team

  • Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism

  • Support onboarding from offer acceptance through new hire integration

  • Help deliver a welcoming, efficient, and compliant onboarding experience

  • Assist in improving new hire orientation and onboarding processes

  • Support offboarding processes and ensure proper documentation and system updates

Requirements:
  • 1–2 years of experience in HR Operations or a related field

  • Strong interest in AI, automation, and improving how work gets done

  • Experience experimenting with AI tools (ChatGPT, automation tools, etc.)

  • Experience or exposure to onboarding, benefits, or HR processes preferred

  • Comfort learning new tools and systems quickly (HRIS experience a plus, Workday preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Analytical mindset with curiosity to question and improve processes

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Self-starter with a growth mindset and eagerness to build

Why This Role:

This is not a traditional HR role. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of HR by embedding AI into everyday workflows. If you are energized by building, experimenting, and improving systems while supporting employees, this role is for you.

Compensation:

Chicago, IL: $85,000 - $93,500
