In this role, you will be the primary HR partner for Smartly’s Manila employee population, supporting both day-to-day people matters and core HR operations across the employee lifecycle. You will play a key role in ensuring employees and managers receive practical, high-quality HR support, while helping local processes run smoothly, accurately, and in line with Philippine labor requirements.

As the main HR point of contact in Manila, you will work closely with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver a thoughtful and consistent employee experience. You will also partner with a senior HRBP based in Europe, who will provide support on more complex employee matters and broader People priorities.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys combining operational excellence with people partnership, and who is excited to use technology, including AI-enabled tools, to improve efficiency, strengthen processes, and enhance the employee experience.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for Philippines-based employees and managers, while operating as a core member of the global People team and contributing to shared People priorities across regions
  • Provide day-to-day guidance on people-related topics, helping ensure a positive employee experience in the Philippines and alignment with global People practices
  • Execute core HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, employee documentation, and HRIS transactions, in partnership with global stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine labor laws and statutory requirements, including DOLE, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and BIR, while aligning local execution with global policies and standards
  • Maintain accurate employee data in Workday, conduct regular audits, and support both local and global reporting needs
  • Partner with managers on day-to-day HR topics such as policy guidance, employee relations matters, and performance processes, escalating and collaborating cross-functionally as needed
  • Support key People programs in the Philippines, including performance reviews, calibration discussions, engagement initiatives, manager training, and performance management processes, while also contributing to global program delivery
  • Collaborate closely with global People teams, including Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Legal, and IT, to ensure aligned, consistent, and scalable ways of working across markets
  • Partner with a senior HRBP on more complex employee matters
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and scale HR processes, including through the use of AI-enabled tools and workflows
  • Use data, reporting, and technology to improve HR operations and enhance the employee experience
What We Are Looking For
  • Strong HR experience, with a solid foundation in HR operations and employee-facing HR support
  • Good knowledge of Philippine labor laws and statutory requirements
  • Experience using Workday and working with HR data and reporting
  • Experience supporting managers and employees on day-to-day HR topics, including policy interpretation, employee relations, and performance-related processes
  • Interest in using technology and AI-enabled tools to improve workflows, solve problems, and scale HR support effectively
  • Strong judgment and professionalism when handling sensitive employee matters
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, functions, and locations
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to solving problems and improving processes
  • Comfort working independently in a local role while partnering closely with a broader global People team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
