Job Summary
The Employee Relations Sr. Consultant (ERC) will serve as a member of the Human Resource team responsible for delivering employee relations services to a dedicated client group. This individual is responsible for consulting with business leaders to resolve performance and conduct related issues.
The Sr. ERC works closely with business leaders providing thought partnership, advice and guidance on performance improvement, policy violations, inappropriate conduct and the interpretation and application of CNA’s policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Sr. Consultant is responsible for addressing moderate/highly complex employee relations matters including employee concerns/complaints independently or with minimal supervision or direction while ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
The Sr. Consultant recommends ER solutions and/or programs to minimize risk and legal exposure with consideration to specific business needs. The Sr. ERC works closely with business leaders, HR Business Partners, Security, legal and other internal stakeholders as necessary.
The Sr. ERC is responsible for maintaining required documentation within CNA’s case management system including investigation notes, reports and supporting documents.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
· Advanced knowledge of EEO laws and regulations, wage and hour, ADA and FMLA.
· Advanced knowledge of investigative principles/techniques.
· Proficient computer usage – HRIS, Microsoft Office and video conferencing platforms.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
· Ability to produce written material in a logical and comprehensive manner for internal and external audiences.
· Exceptional analytical, reporting, and presentation skills are required.
· Ability to analyze and translate data insights to identify themes and root cause. Highly collaborative, confident, and comfortable interacting and communicating within all levels of the organization.
· Strong influencing and conflict resolution skills.
· Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues and key stakeholders or cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial or Labor Relations or other related field.
· 4 plus years directly focused on managing complex Employee Relations investigation.
· Strong ER case management, investigation and investigation report writing experience.
