About the job.
We're looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to join our team on a full-time basis. In this leadership role you will be overseeing HR for our two Chicagoland production facilities--one in Carol Stream & one in Chicago (Bridgeport). This person will be super organized and comfortable to help with any and all people needs - from designing an action plan to fully staff our facilities to counseling Operations leadership on people related issues. This role is perfect for you if you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are interested in helping build out HR structure for a growing company.
How you'll spend your time at Tovala:
- Manage complex employee relations issues with managers and employees
- Develop a strategy to hire and retain employees in our Chicagoland production facilities, despite current labor market challenges
- Provide coaching to managers on how to deliver corrective actions, resolve conflict and communicate effectively with their teams
- Partner strategically with our Plant Managers and VP, Operations to ensure support for business objectives and people related programs
- Manage and mentor a team of HR Generalists & HR Admins
- Oversee and advise on ADA and LOA requests
- Monitor the pulse of production employees and provide recommendations to maintain a high level of employee engagement
- Collaborate with the HR Team to build and implement HR policies, procedures and programs to support our company growth
- Assist with larger strategic HR projects like annual performance reviews and designing training programs
Requirements
About you.
- Bachelors required, preferably in HR, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of HR experience with an hourly population required
- Knowledge of basic city, state & federal labor and employment laws
- You are a very organized person who pays attention to details
- You feel comfortable working through complex employee relation issues and solving people problems
- You can adapt to change quickly and when faced with multiple priorities, you remain cool as a cucumber
- You communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and understand the importance of confidentiality
- You enjoy variety - you can go from managing to the day-to-day HR needs to a deep strategic conversation without missing a beat
- You are kind and empathetic - our team should feel that you care for them as individuals even when a tough coaching conversation is required
- You're interested in startups and excited to work in a fast-paced environment
