The HR Business Partner role is integral to leading HR initiatives, employee relations, and engagement.  As a leader in our quickly growing company, you need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving into the day-to-day as well as stepping out of the daily details to help drive more strategic projects like organization design, performance management, and compensation analyses. You know how to develop policies that meet regulatory requirements and create balanced incentives that bring out the best in people and encourage individuals to grow into better versions of themselves. The role provides an exciting opportunity to support Tovala’s transition from a start-up to a household brand and world-class manufacturing operation.

Leadership Responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Provide HR expertise in various areas such as recruiting, personality management, coaching, compensation, benefits and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, change management, etc.

  • Develop a roadmap and communication plan for annual and routine programming, lead and monitor implementation across the company

  • Ability to lead daily employee relations and provide coaching and counseling to managers on how to communicate effectively with their team

  • Develop processes and manage staff recruiting and new employee orientation - someone’s first day with the company should feel GREAT!

  • Ensure consistent administration of policies and practices - people should feel that the rules are being applied fairly and consistently.

  • Develop programming and engage external resources to provide continued education and coaching for our team

  • Manage individual(s) who are processing payroll, time and attendance records, compensation changes, and benefits programs

  • Development and coaching of our HR Coordinator(s)

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment, compensation, etc. including OSHA

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related field

  • Minimum of 4 years of HR generalist experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food industry

  • PHR/SPHR certification, preferred

  • You are a super organized person, detail oriented, and proactive…  This role will require both strategic leadership and individual contribution so you will need to know how to juggle many hats to support both Corporate and Operations teams and their needs

  • You are kind, empathetic, and enthusiastic - our team should feel that you care for them as individuals even when a tough coaching conversation is required

  • You communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and understand the importance of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive situations.

An Insider's view of Tovala

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

At Tovala, one of our core values is leading full lives. We work hard, but also strive to create an organization that is “about time” and encourages people to prioritize their health, family, and life.

Taryn

CFO

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

The Data Team at Tovala abides by these principles: 1. Be a person, not your job - Respect, kindness, and levity increase the success rate of collaborative projects. 2. Best answer wins - We care about the quality – not the source – of ideas. 3. Over-Communicate - We meticulously communicate progress, blockers, and changes – though we don't nag!

Mohammad Naveed

Director of Data

How does the company support your career growth?

I have grown with Tovala from packaging meals at one of our facilities to now analyzing data on the Ops team to ensure that our customers receive their meals on time! Over the past 3.5 years I have been promoted four times. I have had the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility, understand the business, and grow immensely!

Victoria

Operations Analyst

What's something quirky about your company?

I know it sounds like a cliche when people say that their company is like a family, but truly Tovala is like my family. There’s so much care and respect among team members that motivates me and everyone always jumps right in to help. I’ve also had the privilege as an early member to see this team grow quickly and maintain the same caring culture.

Senior Director of Business Ops
