People Operations Specialist
We are dscout. At our core, we are People Nerds. We empower our customers to meet the people who matter to them in the moments that matter most. Customer-obsessed companies and agencies like Salesforce, Sonos, Groupon, and Best Buy use dscout to build better products and services because of people like you. We are building a smart and driven team, and we would love for you to join us.
We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to join dscout’s small-but-mighty People Team. Our People Team embodies and celebrates dscout’s unique culture in every interaction. Doing our jobs effectively means that every candidate has an incredible experience with dscout, every team member is successful from day one, and every team has the talent and support needed to meet and exceed our ambitious business goals.
You should be excited to be part of developing much of what is expected of a progressive People Team at a company like dscout. We have the foundations and basics in place for all people-related functions, but there is so much opportunity for taking our practices to the next level. You are excited about both the potential of what you can create at dscout and the impact that you will have with your peers. Additionally, we are a small team, so that age-old line “and other duties as assigned” is very true here! Members of our People Team are each other’s greatest champions and aren’t afraid to step in to support each other when needed. If you are excited about the chance to make a significant impact on dscout and the lives of our employees, then we would love to hear from you!
**Please note that this role will remain open to applications for two weeks, and will officially close at the end of the day on Sunday, March 14th.
What will you do (let's call them "Responsibilities"):
- Own the operations behind our people functions - this includes being the primary administrator for many of our internal tools (right now, our “HR tech stack” is Gusto, Lattice, JazzHR, and Carta)
- Operate with an “equity first” mindset across all programs, policies, and systems
- Champion and support dscout’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work (both personally and as part of your role)
- Champion and promote our evolving remote work culture (including tools, programs, and initiatives to make remote work successful and fun)
- Related to the above, as we evolve our remote work program, manage the logistics and business responsibilities of having employees in multiple states (partnering with our Finance Team to do this)
- Maintain appropriate level of process, program, and policy knowledge in order to assist team members with a variety of requests
- Partner around, and often own, employee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure exceptional experiences while keeping a keen eye to compliance and security
- Act as contractor and temporary staffing liaison, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding support, and agreement creation and management
- Run our benefits program, including benefits strategy, renewal, and open enrollment (for the company and for new hires)
- Evangelize and educate around our impressive benefits program so all employees are able to access and maximize what is available to them
- Support and educate employees through life transitions as it relates to people systems and policies
- Setup, train on, and run performance management initiatives across the company
- Support, and often own, compliance-related programs like annual anti-harassment training
- Conduct annual and ad hoc reporting as needed (for example, running our annual 401k discrimination testing program or providing the leadership team with historical staffing data)
- Think about how to continually improve and scale our People Team work and systems
- And other duties as assigned :)
What you need to have (we can call them Desired Skills and Background):
- Minimum 4 years professional experience, with at least 2 years in a People/Talent/HR function
- High-level understanding of employment law, compliance, and progressive best practices (we expect you will have a lot to learn on the job, but you need to have a foundation to start from)
- Clear, concise, and effective communication and exceptional detail orientation
- Utmost respect for the confidentiality of employee and company information
- Systems thinker - you can see a process, identify issues, and deploy corrections
- A passion for creating equitable people processes that include and serve all employees
- Appreciate the freedom and accountability that comes with leading your portion of the business
- Have an ability to identify opportunities, successes, and failures quickly and act upon them in a thoughtful manner
What is nice to have (let’s call them Additional Skills):
- HR certification(s)
- Previous work experiences with a progressive People/Talent/HR function at a SaaS technology company
- Undergraduate or graduate coursework in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning and Development, etc
Note: As a result of COVID-19, the dscout team has decided to work remotely for the time being. However, we are now interviewing, hiring, and onboarding remotely for all open roles! While our office is temporarily open for teammates who feel comfortable coming in, no current or future employees will be required to come back into our office until (at least) July of 2021.
What will you get?

We deeply value being a diverse and inclusive team and company, and we are looking for team members who align with that belief. We are proud of what dscout is today and we are excited to build our future with you.
