Role Overview

Vizit is looking for a Human Resources Manager to run the people function end to end: recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance.

This is a hands-on generalist role at a company small enough that you will do the work yourself and large enough that the work is real. You will own the hiring process for open roles, administer payroll and benefits in Gusto, keep us compliant across the states and countries we employ in, and build the infrastructure that does not exist yet.

You will work closely with the executive team and with managers across Product, Engineering, GTM, and Operations.

What You'll Do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting: intake with hiring managers, sourcing, scheduling, candidate experience, offers, and close.
  • Run payroll in Gusto, including changes, contractor payments, and coordination with Finance on reporting and reconciliation.
  • Administer benefits: open enrollment, plan changes, employee questions, carrier and broker coordination.
  • Own HR compliance: multi-state employment law, I-9 and E-Verify, classification, required postings and filings, policy updates, and the employee handbook.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, including systems access, documentation, and the first-90-days experience.
  • Support culture and career development, including engagement check-ins and helping managers with growth conversations.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance conversations, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate people data in Gusto and clean, findable HR documentation in Notion and Google Drive.
  • Support performance review cycles, compensation planning inputs, and headcount tracking.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years in HR, with meaningful time as a generalist carrying recruiting, payroll, benefits, and compliance at once.
  • Hands-on payroll administration experience; Gusto strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law, including Illinois.
  • A record of filling roles yourself without a recruiting team behind you.
  • Comfort building process where none exists and writing it down so it holds.
  • Discretion with confidential information and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to give managers a clear answer.

Preferred/Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Experience at a startup or company under 100 employees.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Experience supporting international or remote employees and contractors.
  • Fluency in Notion and Google Workspace.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first six months, you will have:

  • Filled the open roles on the hiring plan on time and at quality.
  • Taken payroll and benefits administration fully off Finance's plate.
  • Closed the known compliance gaps and established a recurring review so new ones surface early.
  • Delivered an onboarding experience new hires can point to as a reason they ramped fast.
  • Give managers a single, trusted place to go for people's questions.

Compensation and Benefits

$120,000 – $140,000 base salary, depending on experience. Vizit offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and flexible time off.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Vizit is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
