Job Description

Summary Directs and coordinates customer service and estimating activities of establishment to service, maintain, and respond to customers by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Reviews customer requests for quotes and purchases to ascertain viability of the quote and respond to order placement. 

 

Prepares schedules for estimating, purchasing, and engineering in order to coordinate response to customers for bids and quotes.

 

Coordinates response to customer inquiries for status of their order.  Informs the customer of pricing, shipping date, anticipated delays and any additional information needed by the customer.

 

Maintains updated cost records in order to maintain quoting system to respond to customer inquiries.

 

Confers with production, shipping, warehouse to expedite orders.

 

Maintains customer name and address database.

 

Maintains updated order entry and booking system in MRP.

 

Coordinates integration of the following functions in preparing quotes; estimating, purchasing, quality and engineering.

 

Computes price, discount, sales commission and shipping charges as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                      

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                                   

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                         

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability                                               

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

 

 

Computer Skills                                                  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Other Qualifications                                                        

Some travel to visit customers may be required up to 5%.
