Position Purpose:

The Instructional Design and Training Specialist works directly with the Publisher and Spanish Executive Editor to define and implement research-based pedagogical approached related to Spanish literacy, Dual Language, and Cross Linguistic Transfer decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the instructional design of new Spanish and dual products, providing a professional developer/practitioner perspective on content to help ensure best practices.
  • Collaborate with content developers, authors, and consultants to conceptualize new products and develop program matrices and scope and sequences based on ELA, ELD and content standards.
  • Attend Content Development working meetings to support the conceptualization and prototyping of all new components.
  • Develop scope and sequences, working with content developers and outside consultants as needed.
  • Create new product prototypes and provide feedback on prototypes developed by others,.
  • Participate in district and state submissions by writing and/or reviewing RFP responses to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of responses.
  • Participate in product launch meetings, scrums, and RFP weekly meetings.
  • Work with the Director, Instructional Design and Training, to create product training scripts for Spanish core and supplemental products.

Job Requirements / Skills and Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience developing literacy materials for an educational publisher
  • B.A. in English, education, or a related field (M.A. a plus)
  • Superior Spanish writing & editing skills. Strong project management skills. Must be able to handle stress in a high-deliverable, deadline driven environment.
  • Current knowledge of language, literacy and content issues, research and standards
  • Intermediate proficiency, MS Office
  • Basic proficiency, Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
  • Comfortable juggling a number of projects concurrently
  • Able to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., design and marketing)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Teaching experience is a plus
