Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

 

The Finance Intern will support the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams with recurring accounting and financial reporting activities, budgeting and forecasting support, and special projects that provide broad exposure to corporate finance within the banking industry.

 

Primary Accountabilities

  • Assist with daily accounting functions and account reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Participate in quarterly financial reporting processes.
  • Support finance-related system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Complete special projects that provide value to the Finance department and exposure to multiple business functions while collaborating with the Accounting and FP&A teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

 

Position Qualifications

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
  • Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Must reside local to the Effingham, IL area and report to the Effingham office.
  • Enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, or related business degree program at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
  • Works well in team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and concepts and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
