Summary

DLA Piper is actively seeking an associate with 3+ years of experience for our Employment Group. We are looking for candidates with experience for an employment counseling position that will support cross-border and global employment work. International counseling experience is strongly preferred, and position will interact frequently with other offices in DLA’s global employment practice. This associate will be responsible for conducting employment diligence and advising on employment aspects of corporate transactions; advising on employment policies and practices; drafting and negotiating employment, retention and related agreements; advising on reductions in force and other employee terminations; drafting restrictive covenants and counseling on employee mobility. The associate will also provide advice and counsel to clients, ranging from emerging growth to Fortune 500 companies, in all aspects of employment law. Flexibility and a willingness to learn are essential. We seek candidates with immediately transferable skills and a strong academic background from a nationally recognized law school. We will consider candidates interested in any U.S. DLA Piper office, with a preference for San Francisco, Palo Alto, Chicago, New York, and Austin offices.

Education

  • JD from a nationally recognized law school

Bar Admission

  • Licensed to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying 

Experience 

  • 3+ years of employment counseling experience (domestic and/ or international). Employees with 5 or more years of experience must have international experience.
  • Direct and applicable AmLaw 100 law firm preferred.

Essential Job Expectations

  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Work Environment

  • Hybrid - Regular in-office presence with some flexibility for work-from-home

Pay Transparency 

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $235,000 - $435,000 per year depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
