THE WORK MATTERS
Freight does not stop. Passenger rail does not pause. The infrastructure Wi-Tronix builds sits inside trains and operations centers across North America, and when something breaks, the consequences are real.
The IT Director owns the reliability, security, and strategic evolution of Wi-Tronix's technology infrastructure, ensuring our SaaS platform and internal systems perform at the level our mission-critical customers require. In this role, you will drive the cloud native transformation of our engineering and operational environments, embed responsible AI practices into how we work, and build a cybersecurity posture that protects our customers, our data, and our business. Success means delivering a technology organization the business wants to partner with, one that scales with Wi-Tronix as we grow.
This is not a cost-center role. It is a seat at the table.
WHY WI-TRONIX
Wi-Tronix is the digital platform the rail industry relies on for real-time IoT data, AI-powered analytics, and intelligent video. Twenty-two years in, we are a company that still moves with urgency because our customers depend on us around the clock. That shapes how we operate: with accountability, discipline, and a genuine commitment to quality.
Individual contributions are visible, decisions are transparent, and the work you do here shows up in the world in ways that are hard to ignore.
THE ROLE
You will own the reliability, security, and strategic evolution of Wi-Tronix's technology infrastructure. That means:
• Leading our cloud native transformation from architecture to execution to FinOps cost optimization
• Building and running the IT security program in a 24/7/365 mission-critical environment
• Driving AI adoption that is practical, governed, and integrated into how our teams work
• Managing IT operations, vendor relationships, and the IT budget with a business-first mindset
• Overseeing network architecture and operations, including wireless networking and mobile device communications that support our field operations and onboard rail technology
• Serving as a trusted technology partner to the business, recognized as a strategic enabler, not just a service provider
WHO THRIVES HERE
You lead from the front, bring a point of view into every room, and communicate with clarity at every level, from the operations floor to the boardroom. You exercise independent judgment, challenge direction when it is warranted, and always arrive with alternatives, not just objections. You know how to make the business case without hiding behind technical authority, and you stay ahead of where the industry is going, bringing ideas in rather than just executing them.
You are technically grounded in cloud native infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise AI, and network architecture, including wireless and mobile device communications. Your value goes beyond the technology. You have managed budgets, owned vendor relationships, defended ROI to a CFO, and built technology organizations the business recognized as strategic partners. You know how to run a FinOps discipline, govern AI responsibly, and translate compliance requirements into operational practice without slowing the business down.
WHAT YOU BRING
Non-negotiable requirements:
• 10+ years in IT infrastructure, cloud, or cybersecurity with 5 or more years in a people leadership role
• Proven end-to-end ownership of cloud native infrastructure: design, migration, operations, and cost optimization (FinOps)
• Experience operating in a SOC 2 Type II and ISO compliance environment
• Deep cybersecurity experience including incident response leadership, endpoint protection, IAM, and vulnerability management
• Background in a mission-critical service environment: healthcare IT, financial infrastructure, transportation, utilities, or similar
• Strong financial acumen and ability to build business cases, own an IT budget, and speak ROI at the executive level
• Experience evaluating, deploying, and governing enterprise AI tools
• Experience leading IT through a leadership transition
• Wireless networking and mobile device communications expertise
• A solutions-first orientation: you raise concerns with context and always offer a constructive path forward
Strong differentiators:
• SaaS company experience
• Rail, transportation, or industrial IoT background
• Thought leadership presence: speaking, writing, or peer community involvement
WHAT WE OFFER
Director-level base salary with a bonus plan, competitive and commensurate with experience. On day one: medical, dental, and vision coverage, HSA, employer-paid life and disability, 24/7 telemedicine, an Employee Assistance Program, 401(k), and financial wellness resources.
More than the package, you get a leadership role where your contributions are visible, your decisions carry weight, and the mission behind the work is real.
