Job Description

As the IT Subscriptions Product Owner, you will be a pivotal leader, driving the strategy and future direction of our subscription ecosystem through industry thought leadership. You will be instrumental in defining the product vision, prioritizing features, and ensuring our subscription platform delivers significant value to our customers and stakeholders. Beyond traditional product ownership, this role demands you act as a strategic partner and innovator, challenging the status quo and identifying new opportunities in the recurring revenue landscape.

You will act as the voice of the customer and key stakeholder for one or more Agile development teams, focusing on maximizing the value of the product. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of business acumen in recurring revenue models and technical knowledge of IT systems for billing, provisioning, and customer lifecycle management, combined with a proven ability to influence business strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy & Thought Leadership: Define, articulate, and evangelize the product vision and strategy for the subscription IT platform. Act as the primary thought leader for subscription technology and business models, ensuring the roadmap not only aligns with business goals but actively shapes them based on market trends and data-driven insights.

  • Backlog Management: Own, build, refine, and prioritize the Product Backlog (user stories, epics, features, and technical debt) to deliver maximum business value and user satisfaction.

  • Subscription Expertise: Deeply understand and provide expert guidance on business requirements for subscription models, including billing, payments, pricing, promotions, renewals, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations, translating them into actionable IT product features. Proactively research and recommend new approaches to optimize these lifecycle events.

  • Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration: Serve as a primary strategic partner to business stakeholders (Marketing, Finance, Sales, Customer Service) , using thought leadership to influence and guide decisions, not just communicate requirements and manage expectations.

  • Agile Execution: Actively participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies (e.g., Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Review, Retrospective) and provide timely clarification and acceptance of completed work.

  • Data-Driven Innovation: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the subscription product (e.g., MRR, Churn Rate, LTV, conversion rates). Go beyond reporting, using data analysis to uncover strategic insights, challenge assumptions, and drive innovation in prioritization and product improvements.

  • User Story Creation: Write clear, concise, and testable User Stories with defined acceptance criteria.

Required Skills
  • Product & Business: Strategic Thought Leadership, Subscription Lifecycle Management, Recurring Revenue Models, Product Roadmap development, Value-driven prioritization, Customer-centricity.

  • Technical: Agile/Scrum/Kanban proficiency, Experience with Subscription Management/Billing Platforms (e.g. Oracle Subscription Cloud, Zuora etc). Ability to understand process flows, system integration, and data flows.

  • Core Competencies: Exceptional Communication (written and verbal) , Strategic Influence & Stakeholder Management , Analytical and Problem-Solving skills , Decisive Decision-Making , Leadership without authority.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an Agile environment. Specific experience working on B2B or B2C subscription products, billing systems, or e-commerce platforms is highly desirable.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Tools: Proficiency with collaboration and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Trello).

Target Base Salary Range: $135,000 USD - $145,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

NOTE: Candidate must be in the Chicago/Schaumburg office 1-2 days per week.
