Program Overview

We are looking for a top‑tier Human–Computer Interaction and developer‑experience intern to help shape K‑ID’s Compliance Studio into the gold‑standard developer portal. The ideal candidates are hands‑on HCI/UX practitioners who love turning complex systems into crisp, testable workflows. You’ll work across research, design, and prototyping to make compliance orchestration feel like product velocity for developers.

What You'll Do

UNDERTSTAND

  • Partner with engineers and product to map the top developer jobs: stand‑up environment, configure multi‑provider waterfalls, run market‑specific policy variants, and generate audit‑ready reports

  • Run a rapid heuristic review and IA audit against HCI best practices

DISCOVER

  • Lead 6–10 usability sessions with target developer profiles

  • Instrument a baseline for time‑to‑first‑success, task success rate, and error types

DESIGN

  • Redesign navigation and interaction patterns with progressive disclosure and smart defaults

  • Write high‑clarity microcopy and inline guidance to reduce doc lookups

PROTOTYPE

  • Build high‑fidelity, clickable flows for 2–3 critical journeys and connect them to sample data

VALIDATE

  • Compare baseline vs. prototype with usability tests and accessibility checks

  • Package a phased rollout with engineering feasibility notes

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field with strong academic standing

  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, etc) with demonstrated experience through coursework, projects, or previous internships

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to learn new technologies quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Experience with fundamental development tools including databases, and web technologies

  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and genuine interest in enterprise software development
