Key Responsibilities
- With 5+ years of full stack development experience, design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using React on the frontend and Python/FastAPI on the backend, ensuring high performance and responsiveness across all user-facing features.
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS (including services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch), drawing on 5+ years of hands-on cloud experience to own deployment pipelines and ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Design and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas, write efficient queries, and manage migrations as the product scales — including indexing strategies and query performance tuning, backed by proven experience in production database environments.
- Lead end-to-end feature development from technical scoping and API design through to testing and production release, leveraging senior-level experience collaborating closely with product and design stakeholders.
- Define and enforce engineering best practices across the team — including code review standards, branching strategies (Git), testing coverage requirements, and documentation norms, with a track record of doing so in a scaling startup or product environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills
- Proficient in React and modern JavaScript (ES6+), including hooks, state management, and component architecture.
- Strong Python programming skills with experience in Fast API or similar frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, remote-friendly team environment.
Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on full stack development experience in a commercial environment.
- Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, and non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
