This role is responsible for investment-related accounting, reporting and analysis, and supports general accounting functions including expense management, budgeting and forecasting. Ensures compliance with statutory and GAAP accounting requirements related to investments, including research and application of new accounting guidance.Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform investment accounting activities, including preparation, review and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual schedules and supporting exhibits.
- Maintain investment accounting policies and procedures; research and implement new accounting guidance.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support expense management processes, including monitoring, analyzing and reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis.
- Analyze financial results and provide variance and root cause explanations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency.
- Participate in or lead special projects, as assigned.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- CPA a plus
- 4+ years of related experience
- [OR] equivalent level of education and experience
- Experience with investment accounting preferred
- Experience with insurance investment accounting systems (e.g., CAMRA, Singularity, Clearwater, Bloomberg) a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to research and apply investment accounting guidance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large datasets
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present findings to management
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, pay attention to detail and manage multiple priorities
