Job Summary

The Lead Business Process Consultant is a senior individual contributor and program-level leader responsible for ensuring the overall success, health, and growth of a portfolio of consulting clients and consultants.
 

This role focuses on:

  • Portfolio performance, risk management, and client outcomes,

  • Coaching and enabling consultants

  • Driving consistency, quality, and scalability of delivery,

  • Acting as a bridge between Consulting, Sales, Product, Implementation, and Customer Success.

The Lead Consultant does not replace the delivery role of the Business or Senior Consultant but amplifies it by providing structure, foresight, governance, and escalation support across the consulting ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Leadership & Risk Management

  • Assess portfolio health and proactively identify delivery, adoption, financial, or relationship risks.

  • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies to ensure continued client success and retention.

  • Serve as escalation point for complex or at-risk engagements.

  • Own client success outcomes across assigned portfolio segments.
    Strategic Enablement & Growth

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Consulting leadership to identify expansion, renewal, and prospecting opportunities.

  • Translate trends, analytics, and field feedback into scalable solutions, plays, and program improvements.

  • Demonstrate and articulate ROI delivered to clients and CDK.
    Delivery Quality & Governance

  • Ensure consulting engagements are delivered in line with contracted scope, cadence, and standards.

  • Drive consistency in methodology, reporting, and execution across consultants.

  • Actively participate as a stakeholder in scheduling, reporting, accountability, and results frameworks.
    Consultant Development & Enablement

  • Mentor, coach, and train consultants on best practices, risk mitigation, client communication, and delivery excellence.

  • Support onboarding and transition of new consultants onto the team.

  • Identify capability gaps and coordinate training and enablement.
    Cross-Functional Orchestration

  • Collaborate with Implementation, Product, Support, and Success teams to ensure seamless client experience.

  • Act as a central point of coordination across CDK functions to resolve systemic client issues.
    Operational Ownership

  • Operate with minimal supervision and high autonomy.

  • Take ownership for client and internal issues, overseeing resolution end-to-end.

  • Maintain strong operational discipline and follow-through.

 
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years experience in retail automotive operations, including at least 5 years of experience as Controller.

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Business Process Consultant or equivalent consulting role.

  • Demonstrated success delivering measurable operational and financial improvements.

  • Strong facilitation, analytical, coaching, and executive communication skills.

  • Ability to influence at all organizational levels.

  • Strong understanding of dealership KPIs, financial drivers, and operational controls.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70% (or per current delivery model).

  • Complete Virtual Accounting Services as needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office products.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to transition to working remotely with clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior consulting or performance improvement experience.

  • Experience across multiple dealership departments.

  • Familiarity with OEM programs, warranty processes, and compliance frameworks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Operations, or Automotive Management.

  • Experience with digital workflows, automation, or analytics platforms.

  • Experience translating analytics into operational and commercial strategy.

  • Experience coaching or leading other consultants.

  • High portfolio retention and renewal rates.

  • Reduction in at-risk or escalated accounts.

  • Improved consistency and quality of delivery.

  • Increased consultant readiness, capability, and engagement.

  • Growth through expansions and follow-on engagements.

Salary Range: $106,000 - $117,500

CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.  The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.We offer Medical, dental, and vision benefits in addition to:
