The Cat® Foresight team is seeking a talented and motivated Lead Product Owner, responsible for defining, delivering, and continuously improving the Component Management capability within Cat Foresight. Component Management is aimed at enabling Caterpillar and Cat Dealers to proactively plan, manage, and optimize major component replacement and rebuild decisions across the equipment lifecycle. This role serves as the primary voice of user and the business, translating dealer and enterprise needs into a prioritized product backlog that delivers measurable value, usability, and scalability for Component Management.
What You Will Do:
  • Defining Epics and Features for building capabilities needed for easy adoption and usage of Component Management to help Caterpillar and Cat Dealers grow component replacement and rebuild business
  • Coordinates with product development engineers to track and communicate design, development, support, and maintenance problems and solutions.
  • Identifies, documents, and reports design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs. Gathers and consolidates feedback from customers and field staff.
  • Coordinates with field support and users to address and resolve problems and expand product usage.
  • Answers customer and field support questions; provides guidance and support for product integration and infrastructure issues.

What You Will Have:
  • Business Analysis: Extensive knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Effective Communications: Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Change Request Management: Extensive experience of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Extensive knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Thorough understanding of Caterpillar and Cat Dealer Product Support Operations, as well as parts availability and demand planning challenges, and the included Service Operations activities necessary to execute customer repair, replace, and rebuild strategies for their equipment.
  • Fleet Manager, Account Manager, or Product Support experience in rebuild planning is a plus
  • Extensive professional experience (typically 8+ years) and proven experience as a Product Owner or related software development role using Agile methodology (typically 5+ years)
  • Knowledge of software change request management; knowledge of supporting data needs, data processing and flows from database to UI, and data sharing with other systems and applications
  • Working knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore team model
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle

  • Position will be located in either our Peoria, Dallas, or Chicago office

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
