As a Lead Web Developer, you will provide technical leadership for application development, guiding project scope, requirements, and solution design. You will oversee task planning and scheduling, coordinate with outsourced development partners, and ensure code quality and alignment with project objectives. This role supports key business web applications, including a contact e-directory, automated scoring of neurological assessments, computer and printer asset management, and a physician billing specialty application, with many applications also facilitating employee data exchange across HR-related systems. Requests for new development are frequent and varied, offering opportunities to expand skills in reactive and mobile design, database development, and future-state architecture. Responsibilities include conducting unit, systems, and integration testing, implementing and documenting web applications, and enforcing best practices for source control and code progression across development, testing, and production environments.

A caregiver in this role works remotely in Ohio from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a weekly rotating on-call schedule to respond to high-priority off-hours incident tickets.

The Change Control process is followed, and changes may frequently need to occur outside of normal business hours (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Serve as the technology lead for application development.

  • Analyze the best approach to delivering the desired functionality and define the tasks necessary to meet the project's stated objective.

  • Provide scheduling estimates for all projects.

  • Serve as the technical liaison for any outsourced development work and verify that all contracted code meets the defined scope and approach.

  • Participate in the scope definition.

  • Provide unit, system and integration testing Implements and documents web applications.

  • Establish and ensure that the developer groups adhere to policies and procedures for the use of source control and the progression of code through the development, test, and production environments.

  • Work with cross-functional team to build custom web applications software, technologies, and platforms within the given time parameters and budget.

  • Help coordinate the development effort.

  • Define and enforce all web application development best practices and methodology.

  • Develop test plans.

  • Conduct unit, system, integration and functional tests.

  • Advise on training needs for development staff.

  • Mentor staff on development practices.

  • Write technical specifications of any custom developed application.

  • Validate that all work is done to specification including any outsourced components.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Five years of experience in application development
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts

  • Understanding the principles of client/server configuration

  • Five years of extensive object-oriented programming experience

  • Two years of application specific programming experience

  • Three years of experience in managing and developing distributed web applications for large organizations, preferably in healthcare

  • Excellent knowledge of messaging technology and project management skills

  • For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification is required within 6 months of position start date

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Application integration experience

  • Strong full-stack web developer, with concentration in Microsoft .NET platform and MS SQL backend

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD platform

  • Ability to support existing C#.NET (framework 4.5+, .NET 6-10) as well as architect and develop new web applications to support various administrative and clinical business requirements

  • Knowledge of Mobile platform, iOS, with some interest in supporting Android

  • Skills in mobile development

  • Experience with Snyk or similar cybersecurity validation tools

  • Experience with Vue.js, Blazor, or other reactive systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. 

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
