The Learning & Development Specialist I facilitates and supports training programs, develops learning materials, and coordinates onboarding for new hires, ensuring effective training delivery and documentation.

The Learning & Development Specialist I plays a key role in delivering and supporting impactful training and leadership development programs. This role partners closely with L&D teams and stakeholders to ensure programs are well-coordinated, effectively executed, and consistently maintained. In addition to facilitating training, the Specialist supports global onboarding efforts, contributes to the development and upkeep of learning materials, and helps drive the day-to-day operations that keep training initiatives running smoothly.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain, update, and revise learning and development documents and supplemental materials as needed.
- Deliver, monitor, and assess training effectiveness through the performance of learners and other methodologies.
- Effectively utilize formal and informal assessments to adjust in-class activities, guide next steps, and address learning gaps on the spot.
- Facilitate and coordinate New Hire Orientation for employees in the Europe region as needed.
- Support trainers and program owners by preparing, refining, and organizing training materials and learning assets needed for delivery
- Coordinate administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of previous learning and development experience or other related experience.
- Proficiency with core workplace technology tools, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Exposure to or interest in learning and development authoring tools (e.g., presentation, content creation, or learning asset tools).
- Basic understanding of learning and development processes and practices for adults.
- Ability to work occasional early-morning hours (starting approximately 5am or 6am CT) to facilitate New Hire Orientation for the Europe/Netherlands region and any additional training needs.
- Ability and willingness to contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of training and learning materials.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to assess learning and development needs and objectives, use various techniques for knowledge and skill-building.
- Strong orientation toward working collaboratively with equal comfort working independently.
- Basic project management and execution skills, with a strong ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and approaches, including emerging technologies such as AI, to improve workflows, content creation, and training support.
- Open to experimenting with new methods and adapting processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
