Objective

To support the development of an ongoing newsletter content strategy aimed at prospective and current law students, as well as early-career legal professionals. The goal is to engage this audience with timely, informative, and approachable content that aligns with their academic and career journey.

Profile Overview

The client operates a law school admissions support website with a growing audience of students navigating the application process, transitioning into law school, or beginning their legal careers. They are seeking a writer with strong newsletter experience, ideally with an understanding of higher education or legal pathways. Interviewing alumni and drafting semi-timeless and timely content are key components.

Scope
  • Commitment: Estimated 6–12 newsletters per month.
  • Duration: 12-month ongoing relationship preferred.
  • Content Type: A blend of evergreen and time-relevant newsletters, ranging from 500–1000 words.
Responsibilities
  • Develop engaging, lightly humorous, and easy-to-read newsletters tailored to different stages of a legal education journey.
  • Create both evergreen content (e.g., “6 months after graduation”) and current updates (e.g., monthly insights).
  • Conduct interviews with alumni or relevant subjects as needed.
  • Collaborate primarily with the co-founder, with occasional input from a small internal team.
  • Operate independently with minimal oversight after initial onboarding.
  • Assist in transforming a casual email touchpoint into a branded, strategic content initiative.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience writing newsletters (preferably in the education, career, or legal sectors).
  • Comfortable conducting interviews and incorporating insights into written content.
  • Ability to balance humor and professionalism in tone.
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently.
  • Bonus: Background in law school or graduate education process.
About the Client

The client runs a well-established online platform supporting law school applicants and early-career lawyers. Their mission is to guide users through the complex educational path to becoming a lawyer with timely, valuable, and personable content. Their team is small and collaborative, valuing independence and creativity.
