About Us

Our mission is to raise AGI with the richness of human intelligence - curious, witty, imaginative, and full of unexpected brilliance.

Surge was founded by engineers and researchers who dreamed of building the next generation of AI. Our platform powers the most capable models in the world, in partnership with the AI models you use every day.

At Surge, we believe the path to AGI isn’t just about scaling compute - it’s about embracing the unlimited ceiling of human intelligence and creativity in the data that shapes these systems. Our platform combines elite human expertise with cutting-edge tools for scalable oversight, from building rich RL environments to conducting rigorous evaluations that go beyond benchmarks. We’ve run a profitable business from day one without raising venture funding.

The Role

As Legal Operations / Paralegal at Surge, you’ll keep our legal function running. You’ll handle the day-to-day work, from corporate filings to deadline tracking to vendor management, and you’ll build the processes and tools that help a growing legal team stay organized. You’ll work directly with our General Counsel and the rest of the legal team.

This role is ideal for a corporate paralegal or legal operations professional who is detail-oriented, likes fixing and creating processes, and is excited to build with AI tools.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage corporate filings and records, and follow up with government agencies and other organizations to get documents and approvals.

  • Track legal deadlines, renewals, and obligations across the company, so nothing is missed.

  • Run how legal requests come in and get handled, so the team can see what’s open, who owns it, and what’s next.

  • Improve legal processes and workflows, and document them.

  • Forecast and oversee the legal budget, including review of outside counsel invoices.

  • Manage legal vendors and billing.

  • Evaluate, set up, and run legal technology, and build new workflows with AI tools where they help.

  • Support the lawyers on matters as needed.

What We’re Looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations or as a corporate paralegal, at a law firm, in-house, or both.

  • Experience with corporate filings and governmental follow-up, and a reliable system for tracking deadlines.

  • Strong organization. You can run many things at once and nothing slips.

  • Experience managing vendors, budgets, or billing review.

  • Familiarity with legal tech tools, and an interest in using AI to build better workflows. Experience building with AI tools is a plus.

  • Clear written communication and good judgment with confidential information.

  • Comfortable building process in a fast-moving environment, and willing to figure things out as you go.
