This position is open in all of our office locations and will work onsite at least two days per week.

The Legal Recruiting Specialist coordinates and executes the recruiting and hiring processes for summer associates and new associates and assist in other lawyer recruiting efforts. Essential job functions include:

  • Responsible for development and implementation of our law student recruiting and hiring efforts, working with the Director of Legal Recruiting, the Legal Recruiting Manager, other members of the Legal Recruiting Team, and City Recruiting Chairs and their committees.
  • Manage the traditional summer associate and new associate recruiting and hiring for assigned geography:
    • Review and screen resumes submitted by candidates.
    • Manage the scheduling of fall and spring on-campus interviews and job fairs.
    • Coordinate lawyer information packets for on-campus interviews.
    • Schedule all follow-up and call-back interviews for candidates.
    • Coordinate interview schedules for candidates.
    • Coordinate and attend Recruiting Committee meetings of assigned territories.
    • Manage and confirm travel, hotel, and transportation arrangements.
    • Input initial candidate application into recruiting database and maintain regular status updates.
    • Organize and maintain all contact information for candidates.
    • Communicate with candidates throughout the recruiting and hiring process.
    • Plan, coordinate, and attend Summer Associate Programs in assigned territories, including substantive and social events.
    • Coordinate and attend Summer Associate Orientation program.
    • Plan, coordinate, and attend Summer Associate Retreat.
    • Gather summer associate exit survey data and prepare aggregate analysis of data.
    • Coordinate summer associate mentoring program. Prepare annual evaluation and provide suggested changes. 
    • Ensure that candidate offer letters are in proper form and approved.
  • As needed, manage and coordinate the recruiting process for entry-level and lateral associate attorneys.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with law school and career service representatives.
  • Develop and implement alternative strategies for law student and new lawyer recruiting.
  • Coordinate Marketing pieces for Summer and Fall Associates.
  • As requested, update the Firm's website content and publications.
  • Make recommendations based on industry trends, law school recruiting success, and other industry best practices.
  • As needed, support the updating of NALP Forms.
  • Handle recruiting projects and initiatives as requested by the Managing Director - Growth, Director of Legal Recruiting, and Legal Recruiting Manager. 
  • Collaborate with firm's DE&I team to conduct outreach initiatives and special projects to support the firm's recruitment of a diverse candidate pool.
  • Assist in the development of the annual recruiting budget.
  • Monitor and maintain the summer associate budgets for assigned territories, ensuring expenses stay within budget.
  • Assist the Director of Legal Recruiting and Legal Recruiting Manager as needed in monitoring the recruiting budget, approving recruiting/hiring related expenses, and paying invoices for same.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruiting records and files.
  • Participate in professional associations for recruiting.
  • Produce reports on activity and outstanding applicants.
  • When necessary, train summer work coordinators, recruiting chairs, and recruiting team in use of recruiting and work allocation databases for administration of summer program and interview schedules and evaluations.
  • Gather, organize, and archive recruiting files annually for assigned geographical territories.
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery of welcome gift packages for summer and fall associates.
  • Special projects as required.

Position Requirements

  • 4‐year degree required; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required.
  • 5 years’ experience in related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a professional services firm; law firm experience preferred especially in recruiting, training, development, or marketing. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding candidates, Firm matters, and recruiting matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to handle conflicting priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the Firm in a favorable and businesslike manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of professional personalities, both inside and outside the Firm.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the Managing Director - Growth, Director of Legal Recruiting, Legal Recruiting Manager, the rest of the Legal Recruiting team, Hiring Chairs and their committees, and the administrative and lawyer leadership of the Firm.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of all MS Office products strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work after hours, as needed
  • Ability to travel to other offices or law schools, as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $63,000 - $128,000
  • State of Colorado: $58,000 - $103,000
  • State of Illinois: $57,000 - $110,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $63,000 - $120,000
  • State of Maryland: $61,000 - $92,000
  • State of Minnesota: $63,000 - $104,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $81,000 - $119,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance. Full-time employees receive benefits including: medical and dental coverage; life insurance; short-term and long-term disability insurance; pre-tax flexible spending account for certain medical and dependent care expenses; an employee assistance program; Paid Time Off; paid holidays; participation in a retirement plan program after meeting eligibility requirements; and more.
