We're looking for an intern to join our Legal team! In this role, you'll support the commercial and regulatory legal functions across a variety of high-impact projects. Working within the legal organization at Avant, you'll be working cross-functionally with Commercial, Compliance, Product, and Operations to help build efficient legal processes and support the delivery of innovative financial products.
 

What you’ll do at Avant:

• Conduct initial reviews of vendor agreements against company standards and assist in drafting standardized contract language

• Support rule change management by identifying, researching, and drafting summaries of new and modified regulations

• Conduct and summarize legal research in support of product and change management

• Build consumer litigation case files and materials and track pending cases

• Assist in the modernization of legal operations, including optimizing configuration of the company's legal AI tool to streamline data extraction and contribute to “playbook” development.

• Support legal tech implementation by designing and organizing digital contract vaults and litigation trackers

• Experience or coursework in commercial contracts or financial products and services is a plus

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $44 - USD $50/ hour

Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
