Head of Operational Compliance

JOB DESCRIPTION
Let’s get to business. Avant is looking for a new Head of Operational Compliance to join the Operations team in Chicago. The Head of Operational Compliance will oversee two functions core to operational risk mitigation and quality control: the Business Unit Compliance Office (BUCO) and operations center Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring.
As manager of BUCO, you will be responsible for day-to-day control and compliance activities including the testing and monitoring framework. As leader of the Quality Assurance (QA) team, you will be responsible for development, analysis, and implementation of operations center monitoring. You will work with Learning & Development to identify and guide training efforts in relation to issues found during the QA processes. You will be responsible for staffing, training, and oversight of both teams.
In this role, you must maintain a high degree of knowledge of operations center processes as well as consumer lending rules and regulations including but not limited to Fair Lending, TILA, TCPA, FCRA, FDCPA, ECOA, SCRA, UDAAP, and BSA. You will work with multiple business units to drive operational change and corrective action where necessary to ensure proper adherence to rules and regulations.

- Supervise and/or oversee testing and monitoring to determine effectiveness of compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures across multiple business units
- Develop and oversee quality control testing plan and program, including scope and root cause investigation
- Act as Operational Compliance point of contact with 2nd line (Compliance) in managing and responding to state and federal regulatory requests and/or exams
- Establish collaborative working relationships with all functional group leads to evaluate potential issues, identify trends, and suggest process improvements
- Participate in regulatory examinations and audits

- 6+ years of Regulatory Compliance/Risk Management experience
- 3+ years managerial/supervisory experience
- Experience in process and control mapping methodologies
- Experience working in consumer finance

- Strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills
